It was -16° F this morning. Our well house froze. Luke and I went out and got it thawed after awhile. Hubby was on the way to work in his BIG mechanic truck and it died. The fuel gelled up and they had to have the truck pulled into the shop for them to work on (he's a heavy equipment mechanic).

We went to get my car at the transmission shop..... and after writing a check for over $2500, we left....... I stopped by the grocery to milk and when I came back out to the car - the doors were frozen shut. :what

Hubby had gone ahead home in his truck. I managed to get my door open but I was frozen.

Oh, the JOYS of an Indiana winter!! :?

yep.

Normally the hubby will put a heat lamp on our well pump, but he "forgot" so Luke and I had to go out and do that. I was so pleased to find the lamp IN the pit so we didn't have to go searching for it.

Our well house is under our deck where we have to open a trap door type thing (guess what was frozen shut? :?) I've repaired the pump before, but I'm too old now to go crawling down there. It's amazing how good a broom handle works :p

Poor you! Frozen car doors are never fun! :(

I normally have to crawl through the hatch of my car (it's an awesome wagon) and kick the doors open. That looks funny, I bet. I crawl through the entire car (over a bunch of crap that's in the hatch) and start kicking at the door. I've been told I make a weird noise while doing anything that requires physical exercise, kind of like an "EHN!" sound. I bet if people could hear me while kicking my doors open, it would be hilarious.

On a happier note, it's cold outside and I am making Will drive me to work. He's outside warming up the Jeep now!

I have to work all weekend. :grumpy: Friday through Monday, dealing with the Peeps. Yes, I've started calling the collective clients the "Peeps". They are all cold in the building even though it's about 90[sup]o[/sup]F in their rooms.

It's warming up here :) It's only -5C feels like -12C

And where my Polar Bears are it's -11C feels like -19 EEKKK. Thats not good. Can't have the Hudson Bay melt before the Bears have been feed properly :p The weather there was been a real flucuation this year. It's not very stable....

LOL! Once, we got the driver's side door open, but the passenger side was still frozen shut. So, I'm laying across the front seats ~ bucket seats, with a straight gear shift in the middle (great mental picture right?) ~ and start pushing on the frozen door with my feet. My skinny minny daughter is out there, pulling on the door handle with all of her might. Well, it let loose suddenly, and you know what happened next! She went flying backward and landed on her bum in a snow drift. We laughed and laughed, then she had to go inside and change into dryclothes for school!

Early in Decemberwe had quite an ice storm, and of course everything was frozen. I managed to get the car door unlocked, but the door itself was NOT going to budge. I wanted to spray some de-icing spray all around the frame of the door, and there was just too much ice. So, we go back inside, grab my blow dryer and a 100 foot drop cord, and stand in the driveway melting the ice and using de-icing spray.

I told my boss when I got to work, the neighbors had to think I was insane! "Look at her out there. She'sBLOW DRYINGher car. And she keeps spraying something on it. Could it be HAIRSPRAY?!? Tommy, I think you'd better stay on our side of the street from now on...."

OMG! I can't stand going to visit John's grandma cause it is SO hot in her retirement home!

Off subject, a fun thing to do with hair driers (in summer, or other warm seasons) is to stand on the corner of the street (or in your lawn) and aim it at passing cars to see if they slow down. You have to hold it like a pistol, though, or the effect isn't as good.

People around here have nothing against using hair driers as de-icing tools. We've also had to use boiling water (no extension cord) and those little "hot-hands" things. They don't work as well.:?
