I’ve had Arlo for exactly 2 weeks today. He’s 2 months old. He loves to chew practically everything. He started to chew the pee pads I had down in his playpen that were over the foam mats. I obviously didn’t want him to ingest any of the pee pads so I put down a fleece blanket from IKEA down over the pee pads. He’s been doing very well with his litter training so I’m not too worried about him peeing on the fleece (I only have the pee pads down because he was chewing at the foam mats🤦‍♀️) The weather has been up and down where I live lately and I was keeping the heat on 65 degrees downstairs for him while it’s been cold out. My concern is that he will be too hot with the fleece blanket if the heat is on as well. The way our house works is we have 4 zones so I’m able to control the heat down here and have it a completely different temperature in my bedroom. Should I just turn the heat off completely downstairs since the fleece will keep him warm if he gets cold? I feel like this is a very stupid question. It’s currently 37 degrees outside but obviously the temperature inside is warmer.

65 is a good temp for rabbits, and the fleece shouldn't be a issue at that temp. When it starts getting above 70-75, that's usually when my rabbits want somewhere cool to lay. If you want, you can always put a marble/stone tile in there for him to lay on if he gets too warm. Rabbits usually like a hard cool surface to lay on when they're hot.

If your bun is used to the warmer temp, turning off the heat completely might make it too cold for him. Rabbits do fine in cooler temps, but it usually needs to be done gradually so they have time to grow a thicker coat to help keep them warm.

Thank you! He also has a hay mat and tunnel in there that he’s able to lay on if he wants to get off the fleece for a bat as well as his litter box. I lowered the heat to 60 degrees just because it makes me feel better!

No need to lower the temp. As @JBun suggested, it's a good idea to have a piece of tile in there anyway so he has a cool spot to lay on. The tile piece will be much cooler than a hay mat. You can get a square (roughly 12" x 12") piece of porcelain or ceramic tile for about 99 cents at any hardware store.
