Hi. I realize there was a similar post about an injured wild rabbit yesterday, but I have a bit of a different situation.

I was weed whacking at my rental property today and clipped an adolescent wild rabbit. Sadly, his front leg was broken. I immediately called my closest Wildlife Rehab center and they said if I can catch it to bring it in for care.

I tried multiple times to get the rabbit into a container but it was too quick for me to catch and ended up running under the deck. This is a low deck with lattice around the foundation. Impossible for me to get under there. Even if I did, there is so much ground ivy and weeds that it would be tough to find the rabbit. I feel terrible that this guy has a broken front leg (it was clearly dangling). If I see him again I will try to get him. Outside of predators, what are the chances the little guy makes it? Will the leg eventually heal in some way on its own (even if crooked)?

Thank you.

Very unlikely to heal well, especially in time to not be caught by predators, and even if it does he still won’t be very fast to protect himself. So best thing at this point would be euthanasia, try using a rabbit trap? As in a cage with a treat in it left overnight?

Thank you. Unfortunately, this is a rental house of mine and my tenants live there (not me) so I can't be around to facilitate. I'll have them keep a look out for him.

The house is in a suburban location with a fully fenced in yard so there probably aren't as many predators as compared to a wooded location (outside of hawks). It's sad to say, but I'm almost hoping he goes into shock and can pass sooner than later if he is in pain.
