Well we likely will be transitioning to a smaller home for awhile while we sell and/or before we buy. We might be in an apartment or townhome. Right now my bunny has a long crate that is 5 or 6 feet long which takes up a lot of space. It has not held up well unfortunately. She is a bigger bunny and I would be totally find keeping her in a kitchen most of the day where I often might be so she could play but I think we need to switch to another crate or space. We have tried many things since we have had her the last 2 1/2 years. Hopeful for an idea or maybe there is something online that is different than what I have seen.

Not sure what you've tried or what might work for your space; but possible options for a home base for your bun might be a dog crate, larger rabbit cage, refurbished cuboard into a home base, or you could construct a multi level diy bunny condo using C&C grids. Then have an xpen for expanded space when you're not in the kitchen if you can't just let your bun free roam the kitchen, or you could just use an xpen without a home base cage and just open it up for free roaming when you're in the kitchen with your bun.

This is what I bought recently. It's 28 panels for 60 bucks on amazon. If you just make a normal square/rectangle shape it comes out to about 4 feet long x 3 feet wide and 30 inches tall. Im debating about buying a second as with the clips you can make rooms, second floors, etc.
Here is what it looks like and here is the link for it. This is when i first put my bun in her indoor cage. Added a bed to. Hope this is a good size for you.
