That as well Pet_Bunny. The cheaper they can sell their product, the more they sell, and the more money they make. So if they can make a good pellet that is cheap, breeders will buy it and because of the large amount of rabbits they have, they require more feed and buy more. The pet stores are geared towards [ripping off] pet owners, who overall own fewer rabbits than breeders do.

I'm going to go post that question on the breeder site although they would have a lot of pregnant does and they would probably feed something richer.

A lot of breeders I've talked to feed Kent, but Purina has a special diet for pregnant and lactating does... I think it's called Advanced Nutrition or something like that? That and similiar feeds are what pregger does need. But if you were just needing it for a pet, either of those two would be fine for your bunny, WITH plenty of hay

It depends on your area and the availability of the product as well as price. Around here, mostbreeder feed Masterfeed or Unifeed which is a very basic run of the mill pellet. It's what I've been feeding prior to switching to Timothy pellets an it's what Spice is still eating.They feed it because it costs and arm and a leg for anything else in this area. So what is being fed by breeders may not be the best choice, it's just what's affordable and available in the area.

Good point! Some (not all) breeders also try to get the best quality for the price, too. I know with very large (150 + hole) rabbitries, it may be difficult to buy anything else than the "affordable" feed, but I've been talking with a few breeders regularly who own smaller rabbitries and genuinely care about what they feed their rabbits. The breeder of the harlequins I'm thinking about feeds fresh veggies and free-choice timothy hay, which a lot of breeders can't afford to do, but it is nice when they can
