I do not rely on their pellets as their only source of fiber. Of course, if you *did* rely on the pellets as their only source of dietery fiber, then the show formula would be inadequate.

My bunnies have unlimited amounts of hay - It covers the top 2 floors of their cage and is replaced every 2 days (that's on the rare instances that they don't eat it all), and they have a 'hay station' in every room that they are allowed to go in, as well as a constant supply of fresh, green hay in the form of mini-bales that I construct myself. I think it is unfortunate that people look to pellets to provide every aspect of a bunny's nutritional needs in and of itself.
I also feed unlimited hay and my rabbits are huge hay eaters. I also a lot of veggies to the rabbits daily. No matter how many veggies I give and how much pellets I cut back, I could not eliminate the excess cecal problem without totally removing the pellets. It's not just the brand either, I tried another 16% protein pellet and I had the same issue.

That being said, I still feed the 16% pellets to Spice because he wont eat the Timothy pellets and hehas not had an issue but I think people need to be warned about the issues it can cause. Either way, I don't like how much fat it contains. The alfalfa stuff I have now is 1.5% fat which is more than half of what that contains and plenty for an adult rabbit.

No..its not the same ..it has a girls face on the package and it doesn't say "high fiber " on the front and it doesn't have the the ingredients on the package anywhere. I don't thing its the same. It has the word RABBIT in big white letter and then CHOW right under the word rabbit

Oops, sorry, I copied the wrong link (that's what I get for having all the different kinds of pellets open on a separate pages). But the Rabbit Chow that Pet_Bunny just posted is the one I think you meant. It should be suitable for your needs.

The one Pet Bunny posted is the one but the one that my baby bunnies posted actually looks better they didn't have that one. baby bunnies said "plus on the fron and had lactobaccilus in it.

It's not a huge difference, the one I posted by mistake is only higher in fiber but if you can't get it in your area, the Rabbit Chow should suffice as long as the rabbit has access to hay at all times. :)

I think it is. The only Kaytee product I will ever feed is Timothy Complete, I think the rest of their pellets are junk. They should benefit from a basic pellet and the Timothy Complete can help keep some of the protein down. Just remember to switch feeds SLOWLY. Start with 1/4 new pellets an 3/4 original pellets you were feeding, if they are find after a week, do a 1/3 new pellets, 2/3 original pellets, if they are find after a week of that, go to a half half mix of the new and old and so on until the old pellets are totally eliminated from the diet.

My rabbits have a hard time with timothy pellets even though I give it to them..sometimes they just leave therm and eat the rest..I have one bun who is getting fatter and fatter. He eats just a little bowl of pellets ,oxbow timothy and veggies. I have another with excess cecals but he has teeth problems and that is maybe why he doesn't eat enough hay.

Jess_Sully-thanks for the link! That was what I was looking for!

:? The Extrusion isn't the greatest but it is no worse than the Purina by the sounds of it. And the only place around here is Oakville(45 minutes away at least)for Labdiet! If the hubby crabs about driving to Cambridge (20 Minutes away) he isn't going to go to the other!

MBB-I think it might have been the Timothy Complete thatour bunns wouldn't touch. I asked hubby if he remembered the name and he says that was it. We eventually gave up and chucked it out. All the bunns ever did was dig it out of the dish or throw the whole dish around! Grrr...angry bunnies! LOL

Complete Plusis higher in fiber
Andhas a few added ingredients,
Contains Yucca Shidigera to help reduce ammonia odor from urine
Contains Lactobacillus Acidophilus to help intestinal upsets

For a pet rabbit, The Purina Complete Blend should suffice.

Rainbows! :)

I think if a bunny is introduced to timothy pellets at a young age that it is easier than trying to adopt an adult bunny (used to alfalfa) and get them to eat the timothy pellets

Spice is like that too but it's not only the Kaytee he wont eat, he wont touch Oxbow either. I figure it's not due to the brand of pellets, he just wants to stick to the alfalfa pellets which is fine by me since I he has not had an issue on it. But I still plan to switch him to a better alfalfa pellet once I find one.

Pet stores inflate everything. I can get a bowl of similiar quality at the dollar store for $1 while at the pet store they at $7. The same brand of pellets sold in pet stores can be bought at a feed store here for 1/4 of the price of the pet store. Most of the time it is because you are buying from a feed store and they tend to be cheaper. Also, larger quantities are always cheaper than buying small packages. Price should be no reflection on quality. Pet store pellets are normally all crap and they are as expensive as Oxbow is.
