Okay well last night Phinn (8 months old, neutered buck) did a big pile of poop out of his litter box. He NEVER does that. Then I come down this morning, and his cage is a mess! About once a week he decides to rip up the newspaper in his litter box and throw it everywhere, so I didnt think the cage thing meant anything. But then I see all these poops and pees everywhere!

I clean out his cage really well like I do every week. I put him outside in his playpen while I do this, like I always do. I go and cuddle him for a minute and notice A LOT of cecals from him. They are about the size of two rasberries put together, and there are about 5 of those. So like 10 rasberries of cecals. In the middle of the day. I put him back in his cage, he goes straight for his shelf. I go to the mall, and 3 hours later come home with him in the SAME exact spot. All thats been different in his feeding is I gave him a little bit of Orachard hay, but he harldy even ate a bite.

Im just worried. He's been acting kinda lathargic but then he'll get startled all of a sudden.

I am prepared to take him to a rabbit savvy vet if needed.

So can you tell us exactly what his normal diet consists of?

Keep an eye on him, and if he's not eating then take him in to the vets first thing in the morning.

I don't really know much else, but hopefully someone else with experience with chime in.

Excess cecals and lethargy can sometimes precede a bout of stasis. I'd cut out the pellets and give hay and a small amount of Nutri Cal and a little parsley or other dark leafy green for a couple days. Some rabbits can also be tempted with a little grated carrot.

If he stops eating, drinking and pooing, he'll need to see the vet ASAP.

Thank you both!

Phinns regular diet consists of unlimited amounts of Timothy hay, water, around 1/4-1/2 cup of pellets a day (not the ones with the little "munchies in them" and around 2 cups of greens every night.

He is nibbling on some pellets, hay, and ate his dinner. I soaked his greens in some water to so they are moist, hoping the extra water will help whatever it is pass through.

I dont know if he's pooped or peed because im babysitting but I will check and update when I get home (11:30 ish)

Thanks!

He's doing good. He's pooping and peeing out of his litter box still. He's also still a little lathargic but he is eating. He's going through a molt rigth now, I think that may be putting some stress on him.Silvie&Phinn EDIT: Sorry! It wont let me do paragraphs?? It never does!?!?
