My rabbit is currently living in a 2ftx4ft xpen
I would like to expand his space as 8sq feet is not enough in my opinion but i have limited space
I was looking into getting an elevated bed frame and setting up a pen under the mattress
The highest height i can seem to find is 18 inches
would this be tall enough for my rabbit ?
free roaming full is not an option as he is not fixed and has frequent accidents but he is out of his cage when i am home

here are ones i was looking at

Hi, I think 18" is a bit higher than a standard petshop rabbit cage but imo too low if he spends most of time in there, it is suggested that they should have room to fully stand in there without touching the roof, here's a guide to rabbit housing with all recommended sizes
http://www.therabbithouse.com/guide_size.asp

Also some good read about housing here, and check out their link to x-pen living there's some ideas too
https://rabbit.org/faq-housing/

But I love the idea because it would be really space-saving for you and a plenty of room for him to hide, rabbits love underbeds too. I am myself also very limited and got a loft bed it is 2 m (78") high and I also have a large desk there which is about 70 cm (28") high so it's quite spacious. This bed in this link but mine is white
https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/svaerta-loft-bed-frame-with-desk-top-silver-colour-s59151271/

For your frame if I had it I would attach a large dog crate to it, just by the wall they are high enough, only the trays are not high enough so if your rabbit is a digger you have it all around the crate on your floor. But this is fixable for sure.

Like this residence is 107 x 70 x 79 cm and you can put a desktop on top and use as a large night table or for many more uses actually

So he'd have full run under your bed and a higher crate to stand up, my rabbits love dog crates and you can remove walls to join two middle-sized together so I have 2 x 80cm x 60 cm x 60 cm high joined together like a tunnel 160 x 60 x 60 cm or side by side 80 x 120 x 60 cm, also you can remove bottom grids and make a wooden base covered with lino, you can use removed walls to extend them even more (60 or 80 cm extra in length). I like medium size because of extra large crates are too high about 80 cm and medium size is about 60 cm so fits under a standard table safes space.

I always take into account if my rabbit can stand on his hind legs comfortably and if he can binky.

thank you for the replies
i found a website that does custom loft beds so i can get one with a 2' clearance
i didn't want a loft bed that's too high to the ceiling so 2' would be my maximum
also my rabbit is pretty small at only 3.5 ibs so a 24 inch clearance should be more than enough room for him to stand and binky

Yeah I have 12 ft ceiling so 2 m is great but with standard high ceiling that would be very uncomfortable I believe. They make lower beds as well, like for kids room, highsleeper or midsleeper and I was going to buy 135 cm high first but I also wanted to use as my desk underneath so sitting under it was okay standing would be uncomfortable, here with my bed I am 5'5 so I can walk under it freely, really happy with that.

Here's one on amazon 3ft high also wood

My rabbit can stand to the same height of his xpen and can definitely jump over it but he won’t. Our one is a puppy pen from amazon, it was £20 and is 2ft. If your rabbit is tall enough to touch the top then something taller than 1.5 ft, but if not then he’ll be fine.
I have the metal IKEA loft bed that I got before I had indoor rabbits because I have a really small room that I have to share on weekends, so it was really handy for me. My ceilings are about 8-9ft, which is fine for me because I’m only 5’2. I searched low loft beds on google and a good options came up. Some were really expensive but I’m sure you could find some in whatever budget you have.

thank you i think i found a bed that will work for me !
i'm very excited for the pen upgrade
does anyone know where i can find 12"x12" grids for building a custom cave
i can only find ones that are 14"
