i have a 9 week old netherland dwarf and when ibought her the lady at the pet shop told me that she only get a handfulof timothy hay. But i find that when i only give her a hand full shefinishes it in about 2 hours and a half and then she gets hungrey andnibbles of a few pellets then searches for more hay. Should i give abit more? Or is it fine?

When i got my bunny they gave me a guinea (sp) pig cage ,they said they were "sold out" of rabbit cages and said that it wouldbe fine, should i get a bigger cage? since i wanna litter train her cuzshe poops everywhere!!

And also the cage came with guinea(sp) pig food and treats so weexchanged it for rabbit food and i was wondering when is it a good ageto start giving her treats? PET SHOP TREATS OR FRUITS AND SUCH? h

MY bunny is also pretty skinny i got her like that and how much is a 9 week old netherland dwarf supposed to weigh?

At 9 weeks, she should have unlimited pelletsand ALL rabbits can have unlimited Timothy Hay. They shouldhave unlimited pellets until about 8 months, then it needs tobe cut down. My 5 month old Holland Lop Holly gets unlimitedboth, but my year old Bandit gets about 1/3-1/2 of Pellets andunlimited Timothy.

You should wait a few months to start introducing treats. Also slowly introduce veggies too. A little at atime. And start that at about 3-4 months.

Also, most cages bought in pet stores etc. Are way too small for mostRabbits. You should build a NIC cage. There is athread on here calledNic Cages Only. Has lots ofgreat ideas! Here's my Bandit's NICCage.

Each baby will vary in it's growth, and it'seventual size. But Netherlands are quite small and will growto about 2-3 pounds. You want to make sure your bunny isgrowing, and not getting skinny or lethargic.

Unlimited feed till about 6-8 months of age, and then limit to about 1/4 cup a day after that.

Unlimited hay (alfafa or timothy is good till about 6-8 months, then timothy only from there on) at all times.

As for treats, most store bought treats are junk and not good for bunsat all. I would give little pieces of dried orfresh fruit instead.

Baby tummies can be delicate so veggies and treats have to beintroduced slowly and you have to monitor for tummyupset. Give a little piece of a treat or veggie and thenwatch for the next couple days to make sure she doesn't get runny poos, then you can give a little more next time until it's a part of hernormal routine.

well thats oddbecause i feed mine alfalfapellets but mine is not adwarf.:bunnydance:but no offense , i just got a rabbit thatweighs more than our cat.

Brandon if your rabbit is an adult it should beon Timothy pellets and Timothy hay. The reason yourrabbit is obese may be because of the alfalfa. It is way too sugary andfattening. Be sure to make the changes gradual though.

I feed my baby dwarfs all the food they want, ahandfull of hay is enough.I feed no treats at this age.plain quakeroats the kind you eat for breakfast are great for babies.i feed 1teaspoon.dwarfs are soo small too begin with diahhrea can kill themvery quickly.i feed no greens untill 4 months. They can weigh 1 lb ormore at 9 weeks.bluebird
