I cleaned my rabbit cages yesterday morning before going to work. When I went down last night for bedtime check last night my little buck had no poops under his cage. this morning there were still no poops. I removed his pellets and gave him a ton of greens and extra water with vanilla.(i read the blockage thread) How long before he should start to go again? I thought I saw a few droppings under his cage but it could be from the doe, she doesn't always go in the spot and the cageswere close together. I've since move the cages apart so I can tell who's is who's

Well, if he's eating then you shouldn't have a problem with poop. You should get some poop maybe a few hours after you feed him. If you've fed him and his appetite is good, but still no more poops, wait a bit longer. Usually when a rabbit has a blockages (Well, depending onthe location) they are usually less interested in eating.

Keep a close eye on him.

Actually, the key to monitoring rabbit health can lie more with the poops than the appetite. The cause of the poop problem should really be determined.

Meanwhile, is he a hay eater?Hay is good, too. Is there any change in his demeanor or activity level?

The more exercize and fluids he gets, the better. Do you have canned pumpkin? It's a good source of moist fiber. Is thevanilla in the water making a difference? (Some of mine hate vanilla, I had better luck with a little apple juice).

Does he seem gassy at all? Lying down and getting up and generally looking uncomfortable?

The no poops at this stage is cause for concern.

Let us know how it's going... Hope he's okay. :(

Edited to clarifythat rabbit health can lie more with the poop than the appetite, esp. in a statis situations, but a loss of appetite and good poops is also cause for concern.

he won't allow me to pick him up, does not want to come out of his cage, he runs to the back corner and glares at me and he is looking a little bug eyed. The bowl of water with vanila is untouched but his water bottle is down. He is still eating, lettuce, hay and a little grassand seems to be normally active. I don't have any pumpkin but will get some for him.Still no poops. The vet is gone until Mon and the emerg clinics always say it's best to put the animal down so don't want to take him there, they are no help.I think they just don't know rabbits as they doesn't appear to be many around here.

The pumpkin should help. There's cause for concern, butnotpanic.:)

Fresh pineapple juice may also be good, or any kind of juice, really. He'll probably be moreinclined to drink it than water, and hydration is still a goodbet. If he's eating his hay, that's great, that's what stands the best chance ofcoming out the other end.

Sending poop vibes your way!
