Yesterday my rabbit ripped off his nail! Thank god I happened to be there. I was clean his room and I heard him thump, I thought I might have scared him with the broom or something but some how he cut it on the air vent (it’s completely covered now , my mistake for not covering it ) we had quick stop blood stopper so I got it to stop right away. We can’t get him into the vet until tomorrow or after. What can I do to keep it from getting infected until then? I clean it up a little, removed any debris stuck in the blood fur.

Make sure he stays in clean fresh bedding... empty his litter box and clean it good. You can try to wrap it, but I think it will just fall off, or he'll take it off himself. You can try Neosporin on it, he might lick it off, but I've never had a problem with using it on my rabbits before. Styptic powder is good to stop the bleeding.

He should be okay, and I never take my bunnies to the vet if they rip out a nail, or I clip the quick a little. It does hurt them, so I wouldn't recommend doing it, lol, but theres not much a vet can do about it if the bleeding has stopped. As long as you keep it clean, the nail shouldn't get infected. It might grow back, or it might not. In my experience, my rabbits have always grown their nails back, but I've got a few from breeders who came missing a nail and never grew it back.
