Help! What's this White Growth on Her Toes?

Help!! What's going on here? Check out her toes and her eyes. There's a white growth on all her toes on all feet! Fungal? Also around her eyes there's some redness, and has been yellow/greenish mucus stuff in corners of her eyes. I've thought her holland lop button nose is looking decidedly pointy the last couple days.....is this related, from scratching perhaps? Thanks so much for your help. What do I need to buy for this toe problem? Is it contagious...just bought a new bunny last night and they're in together.

Update. Just done some google sleuthing myself and I think it might be mange mites...accounts for the change in nose shape too.

I happen to have on hand Revolution for puppies and kittens, 15mg vials.

The bunny in question is just 10 weeks old (Holland Lop) and only weighs 444 grams. Yes, she's a tiny girl.

The new bunny in the same cage with her (no where else to put her) is 8 weeks old and weighs 590 grams.

What dosage should I give the 444 gram baby, and should I also dose the 590 gram baby as a precaution?

Ok....maths is not my strong point, can someone please confirm my guess on dosage for Revolution for puppies and kittens 15mg......bunny weighs 444 grams, so one 15mg vial is about right? 2nd bunny weighs 590 grams, so again one 15mg vial....or should I go a drop or so more for this one?

Dosage for rabbits is not the same as for dogs and cats. 6-18mg/kg is recommended. So at the higher dose you’d want 8mg for the smaller, and about 10mg for the larger. So you’ll have to judge how much less of a vial you need for each.
You’ll also need to make sure you deep clean any carpet or furniture they may have been in contact with! Good luck

Need help please....The pointy nose (as opposed to the button nose of a Holland Lop she has just 4-5 days ago).....is this part of mange mites too, or is it pasturella? Note, there is no evidence of any runny nose, no sneezing, no difficulty breathing...Just this weird pointy nose that has developed at the same time as the white crusty toes. No lesions or mange spots at all anywhere else, just toes and the nose thing. I've checked her over thoroughly.

The nose probably just looks like that because of fur loss from the mange mites. Once you treat with the Revolution(selamectin) and the mange clears up, the fur should start growing back in. It could take some time when the baby starts getting it's adult coat, or it could start growing right away.

My rabbit had lost all the fur on her feet and ears 2 years ago. Yes, it was fungal, but she was also treated with Revolution for puppies and kittens. It's for ones under 5lbs. It took almost 3 months for her to get healed.

Revolution, with the active ingredient selamectin, should have no effect on fungal infection, so I would guess they were treating a concurrent parasitic infection, or the fungus cleared itself up.

If you look at the white crusting around the nail beds, that's an indication of sarcoptes mange. It's always possible there could also be a secondary fungal infection, but I would start with treating for the mange since that's the most obvious cause based on what's presenting, and see if that clears things up first.

Thank you so much. I've since taken her to a rabbit specialist clinic here. I had given her 0.05 mls/ccs of the puppy & kitten Revolution @ 15 ml vial/ 60 mls concentration. That was 4 days ago. She weighed 444 grams at that time. The vet has said I've underdosed her a little. She recommends a dose of 0.09 mls/ccs. Can someone please confirm the maths for me?

Is there anything else I can be doing for her right now? She's still eating/drinking/pooping. But, she is looking thin haired on her head some. I've been told it's totally mange that is the problem. Nothing else going on.

The I don't understand the vets maths....maybe someone could help me with this please? She says :

Weight (0.43 kg) x 0.2 mL divided by 60. Somehow she gets this to mean 0.09 ccs/mls of Revolution. How??

I would need to know the concentration in mg of the solution you are using, are you saying it is 60mg per ml? Your use of cc/ml is confusing.
However, with regards to the thin hair, you’ll just have to wait for it to grow back. The main thing is to kill the mites, so once the crusting is gone you’ll have to wait a bit for the hair to thicken out. It shouldn’t bother bunny though

Rabbits should be dosed higher at the 18mg/kg dose.
They have a faster metabolism then dogs or cats and may actually need to be dosed more often. Your rabbit will likely need another dose in 2 weeks. It is also quite safe for them to receive doube or tripple or 6x. There is great literature out there that describes the strengths this drug was tested at on rabbits. I used to have a copy somewhere.

Puppy/kitten revolution is 60mg/ml
And each tube has 0.25ml that means each tube has 15mg

One rabbit weigts 444 one weightz 590
Thats 18x.44 and
18x.59


18 x 0.44 = 7.92mg needed
7.92mg÷60mg/ml = 0.132ml

18 x 0.59 = 10.62mg needed
10.62mg÷60mg/ml = 0.177ml

Personally I would round up and give the 444g rabbit 0.15ml and the 590g rabbit 0.2ml

Don't know if your vet mentioned this, but after applying the revolution it's important to make sure your other bun doesn't groom the medication off of your treated bun.

The fur will take some time to start growing back, but you should see an improvement in your buns skin condition within a few days, with the crustiness starting to clear up, and it should continue to gradually improve.

The smaller baby is so very tiny for her age...you're really confident that 0.15mL will be safe for her...sorry for questioning you, I'm just really nervous

The crustiness on Solène's paws is already pretty much gone I can't wait for the second dosing now...literally counting the days

It’s very difficult to overdose on selamectin, and that is in within the recommended dose ranges anyway. You should be perfectly safe, and it’s better than underdosing and producing resistant mites

Update....super exciting....tonight her nose fell off! Turns out the pointy nose was a scab from the mange. She has her beautiful Holland Lop nose back. Yaay
