So my rabbit has given birth to four beautiful babies. They are 3 days old and all really healthy. Their fur is already growing and they have round, warm bellies. This evening I found her frantically digging at the nest box and scratched one! It was bleeding a tiny bit but they all seem fine and unharmed. I had to support her to feed them tonight but she did so calmly with no problem. The thing is, she’s been collecting hay and fur (and digging) like she’s trying to make another nest?! I’m so confused. Their nest is fine and has plenty of hay and fur. I’m wondering if anyone knows why this may be? I’ve created a calm atmosphere now and fed her some pellets and greens. She appears to have calmed down I’m just worried about leaving them throughout the night in case she hurts them. Advice will be appreciated, thank you! PS I attached some pictures of the babies!

She’s a first time mother, correct? If she’s digging in the nestbox then that would be a concern. If you can’t watch her, then to be safe, you could take the box out and put it in for them to nurse. It would be better if you didn’t have to do that, but if she continues to act in a way that could hurt them then you might have to.
