HELP!!! MY BUNNY IS WHEEZING

he seems to be breathing ok at rest but when he starts to breathe heavily it sounds like the noise you get when your nose is blocked when you have a cold. what can I do? he also is getting very stressed and he bit me for the first time in his life. he is also acting very normal and is using his litter box and eating.

It could be something stuck in his throat he tried to swallow. Does he have a nasal discharge? If so, he could be developing pneumonia which can be very serious in rabbits.

No nasal discharge at all he did eat a bell pepper very fast today. Could a seed have gotten stuck?

Possible...if he isn’t drinking water you might try syringe feeding him some...maybe it will dislodge it.

I was syringing him water, he moved his head, water got in his nose, and he sneezed really loud, and he's fine now

Oh no it’s back. It’s 1:30 am andhe is breathing very fast and short

Increased respiratory effort, rate, and/or noisy breathing, can be indications of a partial obstruction, possible respiratory infection including pneumonia, or even possibly a heart condition or a mass in the chest cavity. I would strongly suggest contacting your vet right away. If your vet doesn't have an out of hours emergency number and you don't have access to an emergency vet that treats rabbits, I would in the very least make sure to call first thing when the vet office opens, tell them your rabbit is having breathing difficulties, and request your rabbit be seen immediately as an emergency.

Is it good that he’s drinking water and eating a small amount? I’m staying up to see if his breathing goes back to normal and to keep an eye on his behavior.

There is an emergency vet, but I doubt my parents would help me take him there at 2 am

Breathing is close to normal and he’s tired. I’m going to sleep till 8:30 and checking again

I woke up this morning and his breathing is back to normal. maybe he's allergic to something?

He might have had something stuck in his throat and now it's dislodged. I'm glad he's ok.
