Okay firstly Im more of a dog person but I believe my cat killed this guys siblings. So I've been bottle feeding it with the aspiration to release it back into the wild. It's seemingly becoming more and more less likely though...but today he suffered an injury right after I fed it it's bottle. It SHOULD be on solid foods now but I don't know what the wild ones eat. But heres what happened...i don't know what to do...

Ok I need some help please. The hare had an accidental injury during feeding. I was just giving him his formula and I feed him standing up so I don't get the formula on my shirt. And I hadn't noticed the cat had come and layed down beside where I was standing. I tripped over him and the hand I was holding the hare in had come down on the corner of the t.v. and pinched the hares hind leg. He gave a little scream and I kinda did too when I saw what I'd done to him. I don't see blood and it's not broken. He's walking around on it just fine and a few seconds later acts as if nothing happened. But this looks bad. Is there anything I can put on it? He's going to the rabbit lady on monday but she's not answering right now. Is there anything I can put on it or do for him till then? Even though he's seemingly unaffected by it, i still feel horrible. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

And I don't know if I will get an email notification that I've gotten a reply but if this forum doesn't do that can someone also email me letting me know i've gotten a [email protected]

If you were up to I suggest taking it the vet. It looks bad, what is his normal skin colour? I don't have another other advice but to take it to the vet 😊

Ugh I wish I could..but I just had to take my dog to vet twice in two days. Id gotten him neutered yesterday but they did a botch job and messed him up. He barely survived the night and today I had to take him to another vet to TOTALLY remove his scrotum...its cost me more than i have...had to borrow some money to pay for it. two surgeries in two days. I think im gonna have to tackle this one myself.

Does your vet take in strays? If they do take him there and leave him. If they don't take it to your local rescue group😊

Vets can't treat it because it's wildlife. I can't bring it in...there are some rescue places but none close by...someone suggested coconut oil and i have some of that. Just cant decide if it was good advice so I haven't applied any.

Sorry I forgot I'm in Australia and if there is a wild baby rabbit I can take it to the vet :(
Maybe look online to see if anyone else has had this happen :/

>: / It SURELY would have been dead if I hadn't... There was NOTHING to eat or drink in the field i got it in. I live in Central California where we are undergoing a SEVERE drought. The thing was on the verge of dehydration and starvation. It could BARELY make a pathetic attempt at escape when I startled it....you act like I just took it just to have it....Im a dog lover not a rabbit lover...and he is A LOT of work and money. I've spent more time and money on him than I wished. I did it cause I assumed he'd surely be dead soon. And most people in this town agree. And I cannot take it to the vet....it's wild life. So settle down.

Thanks everyone. I'd ended up putting neosporin on it and managed to get gauze around the leg so he can't lick it. He's doing just fine. I've got a rabbit specialist coming to pick him up soon and get him ready for life in the wild. But I think he may already be too domesticated.

Thank you. I've got an affinity for anything four-legged. Wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I didn't do something.
