Hi All,

Really unsure if our boy is actually a lionhead? He was sold as a lionhead but his size already at 5 months and his huge paws and lop ears have us thinking otherwise.

Any ideas?

Well, could be a mix breed of a lop and lionhead. Unsure what kind of lop, though.

Why did Google image search say "French Lop"? LOL

Assuming he’s from pets at home, he could be a load of mixes. Lionlop would be what I’d call him, but of course, you wouldn’t know what sort of lop, or if he has any other mixes… but it can be quite hard to tell rabbit breeds usually.

also, going a little of topic, and purely based of pictures (picture #4), he looks like he needs a lot more hay in his enclosure. Rabbits should eat their body size (not weight) in hay a day, give or take some, and should have unlimited access available to them at all times. The standard cage hay racks are way too small, and the bars of the cage make it a little hard for the rabbit to eat out of. I like to just put mine in my boys litterbox, and it helps with litter training too!

Most likely a lionlop. No way to know for sure, but probably will have a mix of lionhead and miniature or dwarf lop in there. Not as fuzzy as most of the lionlop pics you might look up, but that's a breeding trait that is the ideal for the breed. So not all kits born will come out with the same exact traits.

We had him from a local pet store but yeah think that is what we will have to call him! A good mix haha.

Thank you for the advice, i usually fill the cardboard tube with hay at night, other than that he usually goes and helps himself to hay from the bag when he is out of the cage during the day.

Pure Lionheads have upright ears, not lop ears. His face is not the shape of a French lop either. Do you have any idea of his weight?
I know it's not a French lop. I was just laughing at Google suggesting that's what he is. HAHAHAHA
