I do plan to breed him soon and show so please leave some tips/ideas on what color will best go with him. 
yes he is more relaxed when given freedom, but as of now we are currently potty training him as the breeder had tried and told us he would use it but it was rare. So before we give him the full freedom of free roaming he had to learn to use the litter box. so far he has not gotten the picture haha
he will be turning 1 on February 16. and as for right now we have a NIC layout where he is just sitting in the litterbox, then will slowly extend his layout more and more.

he is a purebred Netherland dwarf
its just your usual peepad, then bedding, pellets, then hay. I dont know what his previous owner had used but I had used this method with my lion head.
so far hes hard to tell, he did however had an accident which i did clean it up and placed into the litter box. but for my setup it is just a Large kitty litter box, pee pad, woodstove pellets, carefresh beddding, and hay. and so far there has been pee and poop inside, but once i let him out to explore and stretch his legs, he tends to just not go into the litter box and just does his business else where. Now im not frustrated just wanted to know if my bunny is slow or not lol
If he's having accidents, it can really make training more difficult because rabbit's tend to go back to the same spot to pee. One way to help prevent this is to limit his exercise space for now. The space should be quite small to start to be sure he *always* returns to his litterbox to potty. If he's good, then the space can be expanded a bit... so long as he consistently returns to potty. If he ever has an accident (pee, not poo) then his space should be shrunk again until he's consistent. So bit by bit, his space can be expanded only as long as he's returning to the litter box without ever peeing outside of it.
sorry for the late reply but here is an update. Have done the limited space and he seemed to pee in the litter box. Had extended his space like a week ago and he is doing fine, so far no pee spots on pee pad and just his droppings. Which is a good thing.
