Ugh.. my14 year old is on my contract. Fortunately, he doesn't go to public school, so his choice of chatting friends is limited and guys don't really talk alot...

It's the texting that's gotten out of hand..

Good luck...:biggrin2:I know the fear all to well. My son has had his phone since he was 11 (going to be 13 in 2 months) but he has been exceptionally great!

Cell phones are well worth it for kids. When I have one and he has grown, he will definitely get one...so I can get ahold of him when needed! It must stink to be a parent and have no clue where your child is.

Oh, and paying for unlimited texting is worth it, if you tend to go over. I pay $20 extra a month for unlimited picture texts, regular texting, and internet....and I think it's worth it...especially since I went over my limit when I didn't have unlimited, and ended up having to pay $120 in fees.

Yea, being a teen, I love my cell!

I go to the park, and into town, and ride my bike to the Jewel Osco, and without my cell I could have no way of getting in touch with my parents.

I added both of my kids last year andtwo yearsbefore to my cell phone plan. I just got really strict about who they can phone (same network - no fees) and unlimited text messages so they are fine most of the time. He's 16 and has had his phone for 3 years and she's had hers for 1 and she's 12. Set firm limits on things and he'll be fine.

Aye if he runs out of money he's out of luck unless he has more money to add to it hehe.

Great idea!

I have a gophone myself (I'm 31) and like it better than having a phone with a plan. I just hate having monthly bills.

Now you'll have a perfect "quick gift" idea for any occasion - a refill for his cell phone.

:)

Oh yah, grandpa already asked how he can add minutes to the phone for my son. I told him buy him the card. Then grandpa says well what about online and was miffed when I said yes it can be done that way but not without my passwords which I did not volunteer.
