Hey guys, sorry for the late update. I wasn't able to make it to the test at school since Harper's vet visit ran over. That's one reason the update is so late, just got home a little earlier.

The vet said that Harper does appear to have another blockage, this time in his colon. He said the last blockage he had, when he examined him, his stomach was hard as a brick. He said this time his stomach is nice and soft, which is a very good sign. he said it's most likely the beginnings of a blockage, and to continue the Laxatone twice a day for another 3-4 days. He said if he begins to get worse, however, to bring him back immediately. He said he is trying to avoid another surgery at all costs since he just had one. He also said Harper has lost a ton of weight, which is extremely obvious just from looking at him. However,he hasn't lost the weight from being sick this time, it was from right before and right after the surgery when he wasn't eating at all.

Today his appetite seems a bit better. He's munching happily on his carrot tops, and I drove nearly 45 minutes away to get him some dandelion greens and they were out!

I did stop by the fruit market and got him all kinds of veggie goodies, mostly dark leafy greens. The vet said even though he is a picky veggie eater, I should definitely entice him with as much vegetables as possible, especially ones high in water content. He also wants Harper on a fish oil supplement to help curb some of his massively excessive shedding, since hairballs are being the cause of the blockages.

He also told me to quit the Baytril as it could be doing more harm than good to his gut now, and the infection seems to be gone. His incision WAS healing nicely until halfway home, I didn't notice him sitting in my lap licking the incision, I thought he was cleaning his neck. He pulled the scab off, however less than 1/4 of an inch opened up just slightly. The vet said just to reapply the glue. The glue worked wonderful in holding the rest of the incision closed this whole time.

The vet also said Harper will still have to stay in his collar for another 2-3 weeks since he appears to be healing so slowly.

I think that's all for now.

glad to hear that it's not as bad as last time, but still soooo worrisome.....lots of nose rubs to Harper...what a trooper!....and he's such a pip, too....licking that scab off.....don't you sometimes wish you could reason with them???? take care, and please keep us posted....prayers continue for you guys....

As well as containing vitamin E, Nutri Cal also has the fish oils that the vet has recommended ;)

Thanks for the update!!

Is he getting Nutrical?? It's got cod liver oil in it....yum!

The vet recommended that I give Binkie a daily ration of dried papaya when I finally took the collar off. She was soooo scraggly looking with loose fur all over. She groomed for the whole first day and her poops were like one long string of pearls.

I'm glad it's been caught early.:)Hopefully after this is treated, that will be it, and poor little Harper will be back to normal. I think he's had enough!

Thanks for all the good vibes and prayers guys!

Pam and Jim, I didn't realize Nutri-Cal had the oils in it, thanks for letting me know! He hasn't had any in a few days, but I will continue it again for now knowing that it has the essential oils in it.

Thanks again everyone!

ROFL Pipp, I love the emoticons!

Today Harper appears to be :litterhealthy:! :D

I let him run around on thebed last night with his e-collar off, and I took a bunch of pictures. I posted them in his blog yesterday if you hadn't seen 'em yet, they're really cute!

I'm about to go give him his evening bunch of veggies for him to munch on. :bunnydance:

Yay for Harper!,what wonderful news, now lets just hope he keeps it up:D

You know, keeping a rabbit active has a lot to do with keeping their litter boxes full of poop.

It may have been the excersise that got Harpers poops back. The movement of the body helps to move the bowell matter along in the gut.

When I had a bunny with stasis, the vet really stressed keeping the bunny active, and doing my best to make the bunny run around. It was only after forcing her to run around that I saw a small little bit of poop come out.

Yeah, Dill was REALLY sick last night, he was justa limp little noodle, but I kept rousting him for hops inthe hall outside my apartment. He'd only hop a few feetbefore hunkering down again, but at least it was something.

(He has recovered). <whew>

Of courseHarper has his incision to contend with, but the gentle hops around the bedlikelyreallyhelped.

My new list for stasis/gas emergency first aid is:

- simethicone

- pedialyte

- exercise

Hey guys, we still have great poops going on this morning! I had planned a small run around the yard with his harness, however I woke up this morning to a massive flooding outside. So no playtime outsdide. I'll let him run around the living room later, he loves to chase the cat, LOL!

Guys, I have a question that's worrying me. I was checking Harper's incision last night (which is healing wonderfully, BTW), and I noticed at the top of the incision, near the part we glued closed, was a small lump under the skin. I chalked it up to being scar tissue since he had that particular section stapled/stitched/glued closed three times before. However, as I got to the bottom of his incision, where it has only been stitched one time, never stapled or glued, I noticed a VERYweird... thing. It's something very hard poking up under his skin about an inch, like a pencil tip almost. It's long and narrow. What could this be? It doesn't feel anything like a scar. He has internal stitches, but they were dissolveable and the vet said they were to dissolve in 7-10 days, and that was 3 weeks ago. Anyone know what this could be? Should I be concerned? (Well, I already am, but you know what I mean.)
