I'm assuming they've been cracked. I went to do my weekly check of his teeth and found this:

See how the bottom left tooth is missing the corner on the left side? Also notice the top left tooth isn't as long/aligned with the right top tooth.

Could this be a problem? I'm assuming it's from his hissy fit he threw last night and started chewing on his cage bars.

I see what you are saying.

Poor Harper! Wow, I see what you mean. Are his teeth normally pretty straight? Jack is always knawing on his cage bars so I worry that'll happen to him too.

I hope that it doesn't cause any problems for Harper

mini lops, he teeth are normally very straight. My concern is, if you look at the left side, and then the right side, there's a gap from the missing sections. I'm worried that this can throw his teeth out of alignment or something. Am I correct in this assumption?

It might do :?.

My first little mini lop fella had teeth that went in a similar way, but more like the little pic I attached at the bottom of my post. This was long before I found RO and really knew much about rabbit teeth, and every now and then the two longer sides would chip off and his teeth would be straight for a bit, then grow funny again.

Did it ever cause him problems, such as bad misalignment or trouble eating? This is the first time I've had a rabbit that this has happened to, so I'm not sure how dire of a situation it is, what to do presently, or what to look for in the future.

MBH, I'd suggest just keeping an eye on his teeth to make sure they do grind down nice and straight again. Raph has broken his top teeth twice; the first time he knocked out both of them right at the gum line. The second time, he knocked one top one out at the gum line and the other one broke 3/4 of the way. Each time they grew back in again, and the alignment wasn't affected. I'm not saying Harper's won't be affected...just to keep an eye on it to make sure they do grind down properly when he's chewing and eventually line at the top again.

Our first girl butters broke both her bottom teeth off at the gum line when she threw a fit and tried to throw her ceramic dishes around! I freaked and dashed her to the vet. We were told it was no problem to let them come back in on their own. Sure enough they were fully grown back in in literally weeks! I NEVER thought they grewTHAT fast!

If you remember, when we adopted Socks, his owner had given him a huge calcium block to chew. His teeth were on a horrible angle from always chewing on the same side. We removed the blocka.s.a.p, provided more che wies and hay, and within a few weeks his teeth were completely level and worn back to a proper alignment!

I wouldn't worry too much...if you check in a week I bet you won't even be able to tell the difference. Rabbit teeth will break and chip that is why they have a second set of peg teeth behind.Or so I found out with our lop girl! No worries!:D

Bad molars(or missing molars)could throw off the incisors out of the alignment, but not vise versa (...in thiscase, because its justthe corner). I think he will eventually grind them straight.

I dont think this warrants a trip to the vet.Hopefully it will grind down as they wear down and be normal again.Just keep an eye on it to be sure its not splitting down the length of the tooth. If the tooth splits, it can cause an abscess in the tooth root.

I would just keep an eye on him for now and be sure he is eating normally. Hopefully it will just disappear as the tooth wears down.Just be sure to feel his jaw area daily in case.

Poor Harper!
