Grunting?

I have a dwarf bunny named Pepper, I’ve had her about five years now, and she’s always been very sweet and calm, and she loved being pet. Now, when I go to see her, she’s been grunting when I reach out to pet her. I know that this is expressing displeasure or anger of some kind, but I can’t for the life of time figure out anything that’s making her anxious. I need to clean her cage, but she’s been getting really upset when I try so I’m not quite sure what to do. Any tips?

She has not been spayed, but I haven’t noticed any of those changes.

If she's five years old, and hasn't been spayed, hormones are probably not the main factor... but one can never be sure. Perhaps she is not feeling well... maybe she should be taken for a vet visit?
