So, my husband and I were woken up by this loud noise. We thought someone was trying to break into our dining room window. We listened for a minute and the noise didn't go away. So my husband got up to see what was going on. He stood in the dining room and come to find out it was Gracie thumping REALLY REALLY loud! She has never thumped in her hutch EVER! She only does it behind the couch. She wouldn't stop so I went out and got her and petted her and gave her some treats. I told my husband something is bothering her or she's scared. She did this for 2 hours before she stopped. Come to find out, around 12am this morning someone stole my neighbors presidential signs and egged her house. But Gracie didnt start thumping until 4am. So what do you think it could be? She's still acting kind of weird

I have no idea. Qtip does that sometimes when we're at the house and she's in her cage (never when she's here and uncaged).
We've never been able to figure out why. Usually treats and a snuggle for a little while are all she needs....sometimes I wonder if it's just a way for her to get our attention. Kinda like "Mommy, Momma, you guys didn't play with me enough today so I'm going to make your life hell tonight". We've never figured out any other reason.

Wow--that's incredible! I totally believe that she could have been disturbed by the prowlers at your neighbor's house. Their hearing is so much better than ours. I swear Scout would react to animals foraging in the forest behind my house. Gracie could have heard it at midnight and been worried about it all night. Is it possible that whoever egged your neighbor's house was still prowling around the neighborhood afterwards?

Katherine, its definitely possible. A lot of people in our neighborhood got egged. if they had signs in the yard, the signs were stolen and the houses were egged. I was thinking she might have heard it and it disturbed her. My neighbors dogs were freaking out at 12am, which is when it happened. Her daughter came home around 1am and thats when they found the signs gone and house egged. So they definitely could've still been out doing stuff to houses.

I tend to agree with Katherine and I think you have a little watch bunny on your hands :) which is amazing!!!

Not only is their hearing better, but also with them being on the bottom of the food chain, their sixth sense is better too. So she probably heard something and just "felt" that something as off in your neighborhood.

I think thats pretty cool :) if you ever hear her thumping again in the middle of the night it's best to be on guard!

Maybe that's it, Rachel. It also could have been animals (cats, racoons, dogs, hawks) lurking around in the dark. When Scout would get scared at night, I would look outside and usually find an animal out there that I wasn't able to hear. Once I found a racoon on the porch looking offended that I was invading HIS privacy;)

Hope she'll continue to relax today. And, by the way, they're taking politics a little too seriously down there;) Woa!!! Good thing the campaigns will be over soon.

This is the second time this has happened in this neighborhood in 2 weeks. This is exactly why I didnt put signs in my yard. Lisa, it's nice to know I have a little watch bunny because my dog is scared of the wind blowing. You wouldnt know she is part rottweiler. Scared of everything. Glad to know i can count on Gracie :) lol. Next time I will definitely be on guard. She seems a little better but she is still sitting in her hutch with her ears all the way back like something still isn't right. I would let her out but I am busy getting the nursery set up today. My mother in law finally got everything cleaned out

She's fine Katherine. Back to her usual self. Yesterday, she stole my mail out of m lap and took off running with it. Crazy girl :) And then I was laying on the couch and she decided to jump right on my face. Needless to say, I got a face and mouthful of fur haha

Man can Gracie shred some paper! That's her favorite thing to do. She has never stolen mail from me before yesterday. She did it so sly and quick too haha. She makes me laugh everyday. I think she is finally realizing that she has a permanent home with me and she can trust me. So she is really coming out of her shell. She does something new everyday

Lauren, she took off with my mail lol...too bad it wasnt a bill hahaha...but then again that would be a funny story... "Can you send me a new bill, my rabbit ate it"
