Gracie questions

I'm sorry to keep asking questions but I am easily confused by this lop eared baby.

Todays questions are....

Gracie currently has an indoorcage like this one

The green "house" bit she never goes in to sleep and sits on top of it most of the time so I have taken it out because it takes up space she could beusing to bounce around in and with her litter tray in her cage as well (not that she uses it :?) all space is precious. So yesterday I took it out and her hutch looks much bigger and better for her but she doesnt have a sleeping compartment, Does she need one? I know in the bunny rules she should have a private space to sleep but she doesnt use it and when she was in a woodern hutch for a week she never slept in the enclosed compartment but out in the open. Ive put a big pile of hay in the corner, which she just sits on and doesnt make a nest from; will she be ok as she is or do I have to find her an alternative sleeping area? Can anyone make any suggestions for ways to make her a small sleepspace thatwont take up all of her cage?

Oh and its a little chilly at the moment here in Nottingham so she isnt laying out because its hot

Also she doesnt like carrots???? She's a rabbit that doesnt likecarrots is that unusual?

AND finally. Is there a blanket that I can give her to sleep on that is safe if she eats it and also a soft toy to cuddle up with and keep her company?

My buns don't have a hidy house. The have shelves in there cage, and they also enjoy sitting up on them to see the world. If she doesn't use the house, then I don't see why it has to be there, but if she's enjoying sitting on top maybe you could build a little shelf for her.

You can give her a grass matt to chew and lay on. I would only give a blanky if she's not chewing on it. My guys enjoy a towel or a fleece blanket to push around and lay on, but they don't chew on them.

Every bunny has different tastes and some don't like carrots and some don't like craisins (crazy, but Prince would not eat one).

Thank you I dont feel like a horendous bunny owner now. I put a towel in for her, because she looked cold sat in her hutch on top of the hay but she just sat on top of that too! I also gave her a furry cushion....its long synthetic fur and I would have worried about her eating it but its been on the sofa and she hasnt bothered with it in the slightest and since I put it in her cage she just sleeps on it happily without putting it in her mouth.

I have just blocked off a large area of my bedroom for her to safely bounce around in to her hearts content but she still keeps trying to escape! She can bounce on the bed, which is lovely except she just bounced up to me and peed on the bed right next to me :? Since I have bought Grace home I have invested in a ready supply of wet wipes for bunny accidents. She is now sleeping like an angel streched out on the bed.
I REALLY want it to work with her in the house so that my boyfreind doesnt banish her to the outside come the summer but all while she is digging at the carpets, not using her litter tray and chewing everything its hard to prove her case... if only she knew!!!!

Have you put some covers on the wires?You can often find some cheap wire covers in some automotive shops, ikea or even use tubing for fish tanks...

I bought some used rugs to put down on the floor where my buns run around. That way if there's an accident, it doens't really matter as I roll the matt up after playtime.

Some bunnies take a while to learn how to use the litter box, but eventually they get it. I have yet to get one that I can't litter train...

And I find that vinegar water (about 50/50 mix) works wonders. I keep some in a spray bottle. I use it to clean the cage and litter boxes out, and for cleaning up oopsies on the carpet. Just use some paper towell and soak up the urine, then soak the spot down with some vinegar water, let it sit for a minute then soak that up as well.

My girl loves her fleecy blanket, she lies on it all the time. She never borrows in it, just lays on it, I think it feels nice.

I would alse remove the pillow. Too much temptation. If she gets board one day and tries to eat the fibers it could cause a really big blockage that may require surgary.

Ive found that a carboard box, turned upside down with holes on each side for entrance works great for a place to hide if you think she will use it. Some bunnies love it, others dont.

I just wanted to point out that while I don't know where you live - here in the US we're (hopefully) getting into spring time. If your rabbit is unneutered...she is going to have the urge to breed and that will manifest itself in digging and marking territory (I swear it is to let bucks know she is around) and other behavior that can be irritating. If she is also reaching adulthood she is really feeling those hormones too.

So if she is unneutered that is part of the reason she is digging.
