I used to get *really* bad cramps, and my flow was *really* heavy, and I was not at all regular. When I was 17, my mom sent me to the doctor and had me put on the pill. The first type I tried, made me regular, but I still had the bad cramps, plus nausea every day when I took it. Switched types a couple times, with varying degrees of side effects, but I always had the terrible cramps.

About 3 years ago, I decided to try that one where you take the 'active' pills for 3 months, then one week of inactive for your period, but I just skipped the inactive ones. The last time I went for a checkup and to get my prescription refilled, my doctor actually told me that there was no reason I needed to do the placebos at all (which I knew already), and made sure to give me an extra pack so I wouldn't run out.

So I haven't had my period in 3 years! Woohoo! No bleeding, no cramps, no mood swings, no bloating, none of all the unpleasantness! :D I think I did gain a few extra pounds, but not too terribly much (the lack of exercise and overeating is more to blame for that). I've been taking the pill for half my life now, so I'm used to taking it at the same time each day, I don't really need my period to reassure me I'm not pregnant.

I really don't plan on having kids, I wish I could just get everything removed but insurance won't cover that unless it's deemed necessary. :(

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you,, ?

Ack.

I've said for years I need to be spayed.

A year after first getting my period (cramp free by the way) I started getting really bad cramps but not in my stomach, in my upper leg. My leg would turn white and red when I tried to apply a cold cloth or hot water bottle to help with the pain. My leg would get so bad that it would go numb save for the pain and I wouldn't be able to use it. I'd miss three days of school every month as painkillers did nothing andI would just fall to the floor and curl up into a ball when it happened. The doctor was informed as we all knew this wasn't normal, doctor told me "show me this pain". Yeah, OK. He did very little to help with it because I couldn't show him the pain.

So onto Birth Control I went, tried several pills and am not a pill person they make me ill soI tried the patch and by the second month no more leg cramps. I've since gone back off BC for the first time since I was 15, no leg cramps as long as I stay away from the Caffiene a week before and the week during. I was told it could be a blood clot that had finally cleared itself but who knows.

I still get the minor stomach cramp before I start but it barely hurts and quickly goes away the day it starts.

Hot water bottles help, baths, drinking lots of water, exercising, cut out any caffiene around that time and of course birth control can sometimes really aid in controling cramps.

I just get these two areas of pain around 6 or so inches apart, sometimes just one side. My left side has been hurting now for a week!
Have you talked to a doctor about that? I had something similar going on a few years ago, turned out I had a cyst on one ovary. It was no big deal, the doctor just put me on the Pill for a few weeks to get rid of it, but it sure was uncomfortable until it was gone.
Yeah my doc says I have cysts, I had one burst when I was in Australia on holiday and it ruined the entire week. I'm on a waiting list for having them looked at with a camera because ultra sounds show nothing.

I've pretty much had 4 periods a year since I can remember and have only concieved twice in 7 years of using no protection so I would say I need new internal bits lol! Wonder if I can go get them changed like a clutch in a car :p.

I'm hurting so bad right now :(

I just took two Midol, but I think all of the standing, sitting, leaning, moving furniture...has put a strain on my uterine muscles. They are protesting!!!!!!!!! I just want to curl into a ball, but I'm not done cleaning. :(

I know what you mean, when I'm on mine and I'm outside cleaning the bunny cages and such. It hurts to bend down to pick up something, or reach back to clean inside the cages. Grrr, I hate it. :(

My period always stops at night anyway so if I have a bath in the evening it doesn't really matter.

And he hasn't DONE anything about them??? My doctor said if the Pill didn't work, all it would take would be a little laproscopic (sp?) surgery to take them out. They can really screw you up, I was on my periodfor over a month straight until the cyst was gone.

Ouch! Cysts sound painful, and they seem pretty common

Having a cyst feels a lot like (or at least mine did) having bad, very localized cramps all the time. It eases up when you are relaxing or laying down, and gets worse when you have to be on your feet and moving around. And putting any pressure on that area hurts like the dickens, too. At least for the most part they are easy to get rid of.
