Hi i have a 7 month old holland lop named flapjack and i took him to the vet today to get his neuter procedure and I'm happy to say that it was successful. But they told me something that rubbed me the wrong way. Apparently when they were checking his teeth they noticed that he actually has hair growing inside his mouth. They told me that they had never seen anything like it and just kind of laughed it off. I'm extremely concerned because I know that if rabbits ingest too much hair it is bad for them, and if he has hair in his mouth wouldn't that be potentially dangerous?

Has anyone out there experienced anything like this or have any ideas of what I should do. My vet was absolutely no help and I'm extremely concerned.

maybe he just had fur stuck between his teeth? I've heard of that before, someone's rabbit here I believe had fur stuck right below the gum line.

fur stuck in his teeth.. that sounds reasonable. I made an appointment with a different vet to get it checked out

If they told you that fur was growing inside his mouth and it really is fur stuck between his teeth in his mouth they are not very 'With it"
Good to get a 2nd opinion

Yeah I saw a guinea pig with hair growing out of his eye socket once! Poor guy.

Hey, I heard about this on another website, bunspace.com. It's like myspace for your rabbit. I suggested that they go to a rabbit specialist. What state do you live in? I could help you if you wanted.
