You're not allowed to drink? LOL. All the teachers and the students were a bit tipsy at ours, although the bar was really expensive. Although the majority of us were 18 by May there were a few people who were still 17 but they didn't ID anyone and no one got rowdy or anything.

No we're not allowed to drink at the actual formal. :grumpy:
There's a bar at the after party though, teachers won't be at it.
My school is far too strict for that. Very few are 18 yet to be fair, as we have it so early in the year. And I have seen most of my year out.... with 150 of us it would be out of control.
But that means starting to drink at 1am or later which is going to be interesting. We were going to have a bit before we went too, but I dunno now. It's probably not a good idea as I can get drunk on alcopops alone. I can't see them breathalysing us really, they would have warned us I think, spending all that money on it...

Still no shoes! Not going to get a chance today I really need to get them tomorrow.

The drinking age in the US is 21. More than likely most students are 18 by prom ( I was not. Graduated at 17) but we are not legal to drink yet. There were after parties where you could get alcohol at my prom but I didn't drink back then. I was a good little daddy's girl. I would never do anything to disappoint back then. I still am a daddy's girl and will occasionally drink one with him now. hehe. :pet:

Living in the US....I think it is hilarious hearing that in the UK you can get drunk with teachers at a prom! That is so unheard of here and wouldn't be allowed to happen. They always so breathalyzers.

I didn't go to a prom. I had a boyfriend and a dressed picked out...then I broke up with him. I went to a "May Dance" in 8th grade, but it was really stupid. I didn't graduate from HS (got my GED), so I never went to a senior prom. Looking back....I doesn't matter to me now a days! I had a wedding...so much better then a high school prom :p.

Aww T! Yeah I realised how strict it is with underage drinking when I went over to the US at the start of the year - not that we were trying to get it or anything but the people there told us so so often how it was not acceptable. They are far too relaxed about it here, underage drinking and binge drinking are big problems. They complain about it all the time but they don't do anything about it. -Shrugs-

Amy it will be a very, very long time until I have a wedding, if ever, so the formal will just have to do me for now! xD I'm sure you didn't miss too much, just like a normal night out only longer with a fancy dress! =P

Haha its kinda fun. On my last English lesson we considered having a few drinks during the lesson but I think that was a little too far (we wanted Pimms!) However when we invited my English teacher to the ball (not all teachers came, they had to be invited) we were all laughing because she said she was getting a lift with her husband so could drink, and we were talking about how we would all get drunk, and then she could dance on the table, and maybe one of us could throw up and she could hold our hair back.. LOL. Obviously this didn't happen. I have been to parties with teachers though. Especially in Sixth Form your teachers are more like your friends. On the ski trip my teachers and the students (there were only 8 of us) got rather drunk... I think its weird that in the US drinking stuff is so strict. I actually think the less strict you are about children drinking alcohol the less of a problem it becomes, just look at Mediterranean countries...

Anyway anyway anyway.... SHOES? You know I love shoes. What kind of shoes are you after?

Yeah, the drinking age in the US is 21. I was 17 when I graduated high school. I'm 19 now, and if I wanted to drink, I definitely could, but like I said before, partying isn't really my thing. My dad's pretty into various wines & a big fan of german beers, so I think he's a little disappointed that my brother and I have no interest in drinking with him.

Got my shoes. :)
Spent £40 on them which I wasn't really planning on doing but I can wear them again at least not like the dress. They are silver and the heel is about 5 inches which gets the dress off the ground.

:tears2: My feet hurt thinking about it. But big heels are always so gorgeous. :p

We were allowed to drink at our prom(we call it grad here). Its weird because the catholic schools are allowed alcohol but the public schools weren't. So there was liquor at the dinner/dance. Even though not everyone was 18.

Then the afterparty(we called it safe grad) was organized by some kids, but with the schools knowledge(there was adult supervision). It was basically some buses that took us into a field where there was a big bonfire and music. We were allowed to drink and then at 4am the buses took us back to the school. It was super fun!
