my rabbit just got hom from the vet. She was being spayed today.

How long does it take for the fur to grow back?

The person at the vet said keep feeding my rabbit but my rabbit won't eat.

It's winter and i was wondering since my rabbit doesn't have fur near the belly will it get sick from the cold?

For heat, you can fill some old socks up with rice, sew the end up then heat them up in the microwave. Then she can have somthing warm to snuggle with. It may also be a good idea to keep her inside for a day or so if at all possible.

If your bunny does not eat with in 24 hours, take her back to the vets and get some pain medication if they didn't already give you some. Keep lots of food with in easy reach, so she'll be tempted to eat asap. The reason for wanting her to eat is to prevent stasis.

You could also try syringing some mushed up food to her. Soak some pellets in water and give her some through a large syringe.

The fur should grow back within about 6 weeks, but it all depends on how quickly her fur grows. Could be quicker and could be slower.

For food, try offering her favorite veggies and treats. My girls always liked when I held their food for them.

Your bun lives indoors, right? I wouldn't be worried about her getting too cold then. Although the rice sock will help make her feel comfortable and might help her heal.

As for fur growing back, I've seen anywhere from 6 weeks to 6months. Sprite went through several major molts but her belly fur just wouldn't grow! It was cute though. And then suddenly one day she was completely furry, pretty much overnight.
