Hey All,

I hope you are all well.

I’ve come back from a 3 week holiday, Mellow stayed home and my gfs sister moved in for the 3 weeks.

This means she stayed free roam and in her own space to minimise disruption.

Before we went away Mellow got scared by a car beeping the horn right outside her window and run face first into her cage. This left a bald spot - I took a picture at the time it happened.

Now I’m back the fur is regrown but she’s developed some super light markings on her face - the fur in this lighter space seems courser than her standard fur?

She is about 9 months old and spayed.

What makes fur change like this?

I’m worried there’s something wrong with her! 😩😩😩😩

I doubt there's anything wrong! My boys' fur changes characteristics between molts, so maybe she just grew in some hair that is season-appropriate because an upcoming molt will grow in to match. My boy Lawrence's markings changed a lot with the first few molts, so as long as she's happy and eating and living her best life, I wouldn't worry too much!

Scarring could sometimes change fur coloring and/or texture when there is a healed wound involved. But if there wasn't a wound, then you're likely just seeing how the regrowth appears until grown back in. Fur doesn't always just have one color the full length through, or textures. It can have different coloring and textures at different lengths and in different areas of the body. That's likely what you're seeing, and will look completely normal when it's fully grown back in.

Thank you all for the responses - I’ve spent a lot of time stroking her face and looking at the fur. She doesn’t seem to be in pain and there’s no mites with this and your responses I’ll stop stressing! Thanks
