Our beloved Cosmo has been getting irritation in her left eye frequently and while it's not affecting her vision according to the vet he recommended cleaning it. (It does chunk up her lionhead mane.) I was fine with this knowledge until I realized there was such a variety of types. One for dogs said it contained boric acid which I'd think would burn. Would cat or human grade be acceptable? What ingredients should I be wary of? Is there one specifically for our long eared companions? Any information that helps us get her some relief without harm is appreciated!

(Actually she doesn't seemed bothered by it but it'd be nice to help her groom it better. She's always been good about letting us get the occasional bit of crust from her eyes so I don't see much of a problem doing so outside of her not liking liquid on her - we have small sterile pads I can put product on to use if needed.)

Thank you everybunny!

Eye irritation can mean lots of things. You're going to need to be more specific. Is the eye weepy, does it have clear thin discharge or thick white discharge, discharge that is sticky and dries hard and crusty, is the for getting wet or sticky at the corner of the eye, is there any cloudiness or white spots on the eye, is the eyelid red and inflamed, or is she just getting bits of fluff stuck in her eye that need rinsing out? What were your vets findings? Was a corneal ulcer checked for? Was a bacterial infection ruled out?

For future posting so you'll be more likely to get a response, the rabbit knowledge library subforum is generally only for looking up information, not posting new questions. For health related questions it's best to post in the health and wellness or the general rabbit discussion subforums. I'll go ahead and move this thread to health and wellness.

Thank you very much JBun! I'll remember the advice.

No corneal problems or bacterial infections. I've not seen the discharge, just noticed the fur in the inner corner being damp and clumping so I'd say it's clear. No cloudiness, white spots, redness or inflammation.

Here's a pic that doesn't show it. ;-P

This is a good eye cleansing kit I recommend & use... it includes an awesome eye wash that I have never had a problem with. Only use if you know the exact problem and are comfortable treating it yourself
Appreciate it but sadly it keeps saying "Page Not Found". Would you post the name/description, please? (Did go to Amazon.com's error page though.)
