Hey it's me again, but not a happy me....

Harry was let into the garden around 11am today - the garden has always been escape proof. I went to check on him about half an hour later and no sign of him. No escape routes into next door neighbour's gardens, but I did see one of the planks from the back fence has been dislodged - probably by the kids who live behind. It's enough to let a small bunny through....

I have been out looking for him, asked neighbours to keep a look out, sent facebook messages to everyone in my village who is onthere.... I have one question.

How long before a pet rabbit turns wild?

He is booked in to be neutered on Tuesday, if I get him back. I'd like to think he'll come back the way he left....

There are loads of wild rabbits around here, a million places he could be and if there are females within his reach he will take no notice of me calling on him.

Any suggestions?

Really really worried.....

So sorry to hear this - always the worst nightmare; I take it Harry has not been neutored? Might be why he bolted? He won't go "wild" but may get hurt by wild buns. I would just try to get as many people as you can go look for him. Not sure if buns are like cats and will eventually come home.

Hope the best for you - let the board know how its going.

Thank you. He's booked in to be neutered on Tuesday! It was the earliest I could get him in.... There are so many wild rabbits round my area, he'll be looking for girlfriends.

I'm going out looking for him again today....

is there alot of foliage for him to eat where you live?..that will make it harder to lure him back...id get some of his fav foods or better yet .some of the foods buns arent allowed to have but love ...like vanilla wafer cookies..the layered ones ..my buns can smell them on my breath from another room...might help lure him back home if he can smell good sweet stuff...i dont recomend feeding this to a bun normally but when its an emergency like this ..id do it...or maybe some rolled oats...whats the weather like where ur at now?...can he survive outside at night with ur temps..?

:( I hope you will find him soon. I agree with Flash gordon, about putting some his favourite foods. That might help.

 Please come home safely, Harry.

Check the front yard to see if he is there, I remembered when I moved to Colorado my rabbit got out of the backyard. We found her a few hours later by the front door waiting for us the whole time. My first rabbit did this also when I was living in California. It was the worst feeling ever I hope you find him.

I think trying food is a good idea. I hope he comes home soon.

Thank you everyone, I've put a couple of dishes of his favourite outside the back fence where he left and in the garden.

He was spotted near the church along the street earlier tonight.... There are a lot of wild rabbits live in the cemetery so he may be looking for a girlfriend...

I think I will leave some dishes around that way and out the front - we can't get out the back and use the front daily so he's definitely not hiding at the other door! Good thought though.

There's lots of grass coming through for him to eat so I know he won't be starving and he was an outdoor hutch rabbit before I got him so the temperature shouldn't bother him too much.

I'm still hoping like mad I can find him and bring him home, or he makes his own way back....

x

I hope he comes home soon, that must be so scary.

Hopefully he knows where home is and makes his own way back soon

My old rabbit used to chew out of her hutch and escape but she never went far, just hopped around the garden eating stuff, and we caught her by giving her veggies to eat. So hopefully your bunny hasn't gone too far either.

It'd be worth callingthe RSPCAnear you and any local shelters so that if they find him then they can call you.

And putting up loads of posters about him all over the place is a good thing to do. When I lost my kitten I did that and got her back because of it.

I hope he comes home or you find him.. I know what its like to think you lost a bunny but mine wasnt really lost she was back in her cage but we didnt know that it was scary..

I hope that Harry comes home and is found soon. No pet rabbits do not become wild. I lost my first bunny and she never came back and I never found her. Ironically her name was Sweety. I am very careful now with my two bunnies Sweetie and Prince to never let them outside without anything to keep them in one area. Sweetie is so hard to catch, so I am very careful even inside.

Hope that Harry comes home and/or you find him.
