Decided I should start a blog here and keep everything in one place.
Background: Decided this year to get a rabbit, originally planning on a baby from a breeder friend early next year. But decided to check out the semi local rabbit rescue said friend also recommended and they have a great foster program, they provide everything to their fosters. So thought I'd foster a bunny for them to see if I even can do/want a rabbit before committing to anything.
So I fostered Autumn here for them and she told me that I wanted a rabbit, just not this one. (Nothing wrong with her, we just didn't click.) She has since been adopted, yay!
Then I ended up fostering to adopt these two, if they bonded and they did bond easily. So my personal rabbits, Pippen the black and white and Willow the Siamese sable lionhead.
The rescue places some of their rabbits with the various Petsmarts around the area to be adopted, which helps great with exposure but isn't an ideal environment for them to be in for long periods, so they need to be changed out frequently. The rescue had had to pull their rabbits from the store local to me because they didn't have someone near enough that could rotate them as often as needed. I still had their equipment from fostering the others, they were very nice in giving me time to assemble my own, even past when I'd officially adopted my two. So I told them I could give it back or actually had room to foster one more. So they asked if I could foster three, the Petsmart has room for two rabbits and rotate them out from the store to give them a break. I said yes and my husband and I went and picked up my fosters, Nellie, Flash and Opal, pictured in order.
Once we got them home and were getting them setup, my husband was like, hey this other room has a ton of wasted space, you could use that for them too. I love my husband! So that gave me room to foster two/four at a time and made it much easier to rotate everyone fairly. The rescue was going to send me down another foster but before they could, someone contacted them about this big guy that animal control had found wandering in my town, so he got sent to me instead after animal control neutered him and I named him Kumori. He is full of personality and while a bit of an *******, with the right family, they should have a blast with him. He's like a cat.
