Decided I should start a blog here and keep everything in one place.
Background: Decided this year to get a rabbit, originally planning on a baby from a breeder friend early next year. But decided to check out the semi local rabbit rescue said friend also recommended and they have a great foster program, they provide everything to their fosters. So thought I'd foster a bunny for them to see if I even can do/want a rabbit before committing to anything.

So I fostered Autumn here for them and she told me that I wanted a rabbit, just not this one. (Nothing wrong with her, we just didn't click.) She has since been adopted, yay!

Then I ended up fostering to adopt these two, if they bonded and they did bond easily. So my personal rabbits, Pippen the black and white and Willow the Siamese sable lionhead.

The rescue places some of their rabbits with the various Petsmarts around the area to be adopted, which helps great with exposure but isn't an ideal environment for them to be in for long periods, so they need to be changed out frequently. The rescue had had to pull their rabbits from the store local to me because they didn't have someone near enough that could rotate them as often as needed. I still had their equipment from fostering the others, they were very nice in giving me time to assemble my own, even past when I'd officially adopted my two. So I told them I could give it back or actually had room to foster one more. So they asked if I could foster three, the Petsmart has room for two rabbits and rotate them out from the store to give them a break. I said yes and my husband and I went and picked up my fosters, Nellie, Flash and Opal, pictured in order.

Once we got them home and were getting them setup, my husband was like, hey this other room has a ton of wasted space, you could use that for them too. I love my husband! So that gave me room to foster two/four at a time and made it much easier to rotate everyone fairly. The rescue was going to send me down another foster but before they could, someone contacted them about this big guy that animal control had found wandering in my town, so he got sent to me instead after animal control neutered him and I named him Kumori. He is full of personality and while a bit of an *******, with the right family, they should have a blast with him. He's like a cat.

Someone close to the main rescue was interested in Nellie a few days ago (and did adopt her, yay!) so I met up half way with someone from the rescue to switch out buns and now have Didi here. I'd actually been having to tell myself I really didn't need a third rabbit, because Nellie was so sweet, so was good timing on that. Then the same day I picked up Didi, I ran by Petsmart and they had actually just adopted out Kumori!
So I'll be getting another boy to foster soon to replace Kumori.

Didi, she has the cutest marking on her ears.

The local rescuer that catches lost and released domestic rabbits contacted me this evening needing a place to stay for this girl that she caught today, so here is my newest unexpected foster! Was a good thing I had an extra pen and a bathroom no one uses, lol.
Thinking female for now but she'll be going to the vet soon, so will know for sure. Think I've just about settled on Eleanor as a name once gender is confirmed. She was caught on Wilson street, so one of my friends recommended the name as Woodrow Wilson's daughter's name. It's nice and elegant and suits her, I think.

Finally got some slightly better pics of Flash yesterday. He is so cute, he has the most adorable little mohawk.

Currently have Opal and Flash with me, along with Eleanor. Took Didi in to Petsmart and one of the rescue managers came through on their way through and left Bodie, a black and white boy at the Petsmart that I have not met yet. They will pick Eleanor up from me on their way back on Friday. I'm really hoping Opal gets adopted next, she's the new one I'm having to remind myself I do not need another rabbit on. She is quite the character though, loves celery and arugula and comes running to beg for treats when those are in the offering. Reminds me of my dogs.

I'm trying to get myself around to setting up the brumation room and moving over those snakes that will be brumated. Miss them but it does give me a bit of a break this time of the year on how much care they all need. So that's the plan for the rest of the week, cleaning cages and moving snakes.

Was nice, a local friend of the rescuer that caught Ellie saw her and is interested in her. She came over just a bit ago and it was mutual love at first sight! So, because the lady is known to the rescue and Ellie hasn't been officially processed by the rescue, she's not actually being adopted through them.

Lady that's taking her will get her for "free" because she is setting up and paying for her spay. I will be keeping Ellie until she is spade and then she will go to her new home.

Didi has been adopted! Haven't yet received a replacement for her. Opal and Flash are currently at the store and Bodie is here with me for the first time. His picture didn't do him justice, he's a lot bigger than I thought and is going to be a bigger boy. He's only 4-5 months old now. bodie2.jpg bodie1.jpg bodie3.jpg bodie4.jpg bodie5.jpg
