Hiya,

I'm looking after my friends rabbit at the moment and she keeps makinga funny grunting noise. She also occasionally sounds like shes chokingand sort of starts sneezing but kind of squeeks too.She doesnt have acold or anything but it is bothering me. I've never heard a rabbit dothis before.

Any help would be great thanx.

My rabbit grunts... It is caused by distress orbeing scared. She only does it when I touch her which I think is weirdbut oh well. I don't know what the other noises are though. Sorry.

Did you ever see her swallow anything that shecould choke on? Such as a piece of couch stuffing, rubber bands, ect.Has she been going the bathroom alright?

Shes not scared atall. Shes very tame.Itshappened quite a few times since she came to stay here and its usuallyjust all of a sudden. She could be just wandering around or whateverand then it happens. Its almost like shes choking and sneezing. Shedoesnt have a cold either as her eyes and nose are clean. Thanx anyway.

thanx for the link. i'll have a look. I dont think shes eaten anything weird. .

is it sort of like a hiccup/cough? mybunnies do that occassionally, especially if there's a lot of haydust.. for mine it seems to be allergy related.. maybe the bun isntused to something that's in your house.. a perfume, cleaner, or maybeeven laundry detergent :)

hiya,

Its really weird. Its like she goes in to a sort of littlecoughing/sneezing fit. Its not like a seizure though.Shes in a hutchoutside. Theres some tiny conifer saplings growing out of the gaps inthe slabs of the patio. I think she might have eaten some. Ive pulledthem all out now.I was wondering if they might be poisonous forrabbits. Hopefully she'll be ok now i've removed them but i'll wait andsee. If it gets worse i'll take her to the vet.

LOL just discovered she is actually a he. Dontthink he's been "fixed" yet either. Hes not making the noise as muchtoday.I'll keep an eye on him tho.
