doe won't lift for the buck?

Hi all,

my doe doesn't really seem to take to the buck very well, she just runs off every time he comes near.

I know usually there's a bit of chasing in circles but usually they lift eventually. mine was just not having it.

Any tips for getting her to lift? she's had litters before so it's not her first rodeo.

When I bred my lion heads and the doe wouldn’t lift I would just let them have their daily play time out of their cages together everyday until the die allowed it. I wasn’t a big breeder though so you may not have time for that.

Maybe it was something to do with the environment or temperature? Did you have a day when it was cold and then it raised to a hotter temperature? Another thing could be she’s waited to long since her last litter and isn’t interested right now. Try putting her in with the buck then taking her out after a few minutes, check her vent a few hours later and if it’s swelling put her back in?

Hi, I’m having the same issue but, this has been going on over 5 months. My boy bunny is 16 months and she is 12 months. They have been in the same space together for months. He jumps and she either runs or just sits there until he tires himself out. She won’t lift. They have both been to the vet. They are both Holland lops, but he is the mini. I don’t understand. I’m just going to get her spayed and let them live happily. They really love each other’s company but she isn’t interested.

When does won’t cooperate sometimes you can lift the doe’s rear end up (making sure the tail is out of the way), or you can table breed.

Otherwise it's possible that he won't recognize her scent and the bond could be broken. Many-a-bond have been broken when only one of a pair goes to the vet.

She won’t let me lift up her tail. She balls up when he is on her humping. I thought rabbits went at it without any help lol. She isn’t as sweet as he is, so I can’t pick her up etc. He is a sweetheart and I can pick him up, clip his nails etc(very loving). Thanks for your reply

Thanks for this! That’s exactly how they bonded actually. When I first got her, I placed her cage facing his, so they could see and sniff each other. After that, I would place her in his cage and he immediately went to hump. She lifted ONCE, and he fell over afterwards but she didn’t get pregnant. After that, no more lifting and they just groomed each other lol. Now they free roam and as you can see by the pics, they hang out like an old married couple until he gets hot and bothered and tries to hump lol. She sits there like, keep trying but I’m not getting undressed

I’ve tried having their play time together (I actually have two does, same thing happens for both). He tried briefly and just hops off after a few seconds because she’s obviously not receptive.
ive tried table breeding but the buck isclearly a bit shy and won’t “go for it” if my arm is in the way fair enough.
Kind of lost as to where to go from here

Shy bucks don’t try sometimes. You could also try checking for a split ***** or other problems with his privates

Nothing wrong with his tackle, he just doesn’t seem to like it when I get involved. He’s only 5 months (girls are older with one previous litters), do you think he just needs more time?

I would wait until he’s 6 months he’ll be more fertile and hormonal

Hi, not sure if you still struggling to get them to mate, but I read that apple cider vinegar makes them more interested in breeding
