So my 4 month old bunny has, in the past months, increasingly gained a different texture in his head fur. It’s more rough and short you can clearly see in the pics. My question is whether this is normal or could it be bc of a respiratory infection.
Ps: the first pic is the most noticeable one bc it’s the most recent. When he was smaller the rough fur was much less than what is now.

hmm usually I'd think he's shedding but at four months, not sure if they start to shed yet. But I don't think this has anything to do with her respiratory infection. Maybe he's just starting to grow his normal fur? :)

My understanding is fur texture can change based on health/diet, as well as other factors like a fur coat going normal shedding stages. If it's the head fur only, I wouldn't be too concerned at this point-- it may be from wiping nasal discharge up there while grooming or maybe a different fur coat is coming in considering your rabbit's age.

Separately, in the 1st photo, your rabbit looks a bit skinny, though it may be the angle/flash.

My first bun was around 4 months old when she started shedding her baby coat. She actually still has patches of baby coat and she's 2 and a half. So he may just be an early shedder. If you're concerned though, maybe reach out to a rabbit savvy vet and pick their brain a bit. I know my vet will give me advice over the phone no charge.

Oh really ? He is being followed by an exotic pet vet and the last time i went there (1/2 weeks ago) everything was fine (he had a respiratory infection) but i’m gonna put some more pics in here

What a handsome little man! 😍 😍 😍 What's his name?

Yes, I would agree that he's probably starting his first molt. Lawrence was about that age when he did, and I thought something was wrong. The first one was the most extreme; his colors and everything seemed to change, but each one after that has been less severe.
