I was perusing the safe foods list as I'm trying to find more things for them to eat. Everyone is getting tired of celery and shya is starting to get picky about lettuce. Does anyone feed these other veggies to their buns? Any issues to worry about? Amounts?

http://www.rabbit.org/care/veggies.html has a nice list of non-leafy greens; bunnies should get no more than 1 TBSP per 2 lbs of body weight daily.

mine liked celery, carrots and zucchini squash... they did NOT like red bell pepper (which I really thought they would due to the sweet taste) and didn't seem to like mushrooms, though I may try them again because the first time was shortly after their spays when they may not have fully regained their appetites.

as far as leafy greens go, Nala eats kale and sometimes cilantro and that's pretty much it - she's super picky. every once in a while she'll eat a carrot top. Gaz LOVES kale and cilantro, also likes carrot tops, red lettuce, green lettuce, romaine, turnip greens, collard greens, mustard greens, spinach, radish tops and bok choy. she didn't seem very impressed with watercress or swiss chard. they'll both sometimes nibble on a leaf or two of basil, mint, fennel, sage or orange mint (I grow those five in my garden). nobody will eat cucumber leaves even though I grew those just for them :pssd:

sweet thanks. I may try the fennel on Franklin as it's supposed to be a huge immune booster. They eat a ton of cilantro, mint, endive, a few mustard greens, dandelions, we're working on turnip greens now. I thought they might like the non-green stuff but you never hear anyone on here talking about it much. Feel much better about trying now.

Honey hasn't had much lettuce during the summer because I gave her grass, plantain, etc from the yard. Also wheat grass. I gave her the carved out pieces of a Halloween pumpkin & she ate a little but not much.

I;m pretty sure mushrooms were on a bad list I saw, so I wouldn't give them. I love them myself, but they aren't a veggie but fungi.

mushrooms aren't on any of the 3 bunnies "bad" lists and are on the approved list for HRS (as long as they're a type meant to be eaten by humans)

My girls get cilantro (an all time favorite) romaine (another favorite) turnip greens, mustard greens, parsley, red leaf and green leaf lettuce (they do not like these two, though they do like the baby version that I found in a salad mix 1x). They have gotten the rare grape, strawberry, and blueberry. I have not tried the cucumber, zuchinni, squash etc... Also the HEB around me does not have a very good selection of veggies (small town). The things that they do have that I did not list are way to expensive for the little bit it comes with.

They have several in houston. But Fiesta is the BEST place to buy veggies. They have everything on the good list and stuff you've never heard of. When we go home to visit I always stop there and the rabbits get a bit of everything. Prices are also PHENOMENAL!

Ours like Cilantro, Parsley, Italian Parsley, Dandelions, Romaine lettuce, and they get a small bit of apple in the morning and a small bit of carrot at night. They have also gotten wheat grass, kale, and alfalfa sprouts in the past but we dropped that and spinach because we had 2 with Calcium problems.
