Does anyone know of any really cool rabbit treats? For example, I made my rabbits "tacos" today--I took a romaine heart and then put carrot peels and a small scoop of pellets in it, and kind of folded it to make a sort of taco. The rabbits loved them!

Any creative ideas for treats? :) I'd rather give them something a little more exciting than just veggies sometimes, and pellets every day.
Thanks!

Q-tip here. My favorite treat is one I have to work for. Mommy stuffs some treat hay (Timothy, not the coastal I usually eat) in a toilet paper tube. And then she puts a banana chip in the middle. I love trying to find the banana chip to get it out!!!

Taz: Ooh, Q-Tip, that sounds good!! I've never had banana chips... mommy hasn't made them before.... Where do you get/make them?

I make my bunnies apple banana kabobs. I get these banana chips that are sliced vertically. They are all-natural and the only ingredient is bananas. Then I stack 3-4 rings on the banana. I usually give one per two bunnies per week, because they are very high in sugar. And I make trail mix with the regular banana chips, large raisins, unsweetened shredded coconut (in extremely small amounts, but they love it) dried kiwi, rolled oats, Cheerios, black oil sunflower seeds, and small pieces of apple, pineapple, and papaya ring.

We have a number of treats we give.

We give ours cookies that are just ground up pellets and banana that are mashed together and baked, they go absoloutly nuts for them!

Ours also get homemade banana and apple chips. We just slice up the fruit really thin and put it in the dehydrator, they get a chip every few days. It's fairly cheap and EXTREMELY popular with the rabbits. Haven't met a bun yet who turns down a banana chip.

I also have a dehydrated flower mix that I give, it smells absoloutly wonderful. It's rosebuds, chamomile, lavender, cilantro, parsley and dandelion, all completely dehydrated and mixed together. They love it and it makes the whole house smell like flowers :)

We also give ours freeze dried fruit. We get it at the local Organic store, it's just fruit with all the water removed from it via freeze drying. They get strawberry, banana, raspberry, pineapple and their favorite, blueberry.

They also get limited amounts of the usual Oxbow treats. Barley biscuits, timothy rings, etc. They also get the American Pet Diner cookies, they love every flavor.

Been on the lookout for Papaya, but it's so hard to find where I live :(

Oooo! I have a Berry Cookie recipe that I haven't used for a while (because I'm terrible at baking lol), but my buns go nuts!
Ingredients:
1 whole strawberry (leaves removed)
2 blueberries
1 blackberry
1 raspberry
1/4 cup rabbit pellets
3 tsp rolled oats

Directions: Preheat oven to 350F. Blend all berries in a food processor until a fine, gritty liquid appears. Add in pellets and oats and grind more until all ingredients are well ground together. Using a tsp measuring spoon, spoon out onto a cookie sheet covered in parchment paper. Bake for 30 min or until browned at the bottom. Cool & serve:). For larger amounts, use double/triple ingredients. Mix & match fruits/veggies of equivalent amounts.

I do the hay stuffed toilet paper tubes, and also fold in the bottom of a toilet paper tube, fill it with pellets and a couple treats (like a couple slices of no sugar added freeze dried strawberries), then fold in the top. It makes a little bunny pinata/maraca thing! Another favorite is what I call a love bomb. We bought a whole bunch of brown paper lunch bags at the store, and every couple of weeks I will make love bombs for everyone. I just cram the bags full of hay, pellets, and a couple bits of dried fruit, then twist the tops shut and hand 'em out! We are going out of town for a few days this week and I plan to make some love bombs and bunny pinatas for the pet sitter to give them while we're away.

I made some banana chips by slicing up bananas and putting them in a dehydrator at about 155 degrees for about a day, or as long as it takes to be hard. And I fed one to Ash and he loved it. You can also search on the internet for rabbit recipes that's where I got some of mine.

Have fun baking!:)
