Hi all,

Just wanted to share in my happiness. :party0002:

My brother just graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy on Friday after a grueling 26 weeks of training. I'm so very proud of him:blueribbon:. He has been so strong and determined through this, that his basic thought process is, "I will make it or die trying", who he even said this to his FTOOfficer (Field Training Officer) today as he started field training:D.

He's had to relocate to Batavia, a town near Chicago for what could be two years:(. He's got an awesome house to rent, and neighbors have already come over to welcome him with fudge and an invite to a neighborhood gathering:D. He's a bit under the weather, he's got a bit of leyrangythis(sp) at the mo. He thinks from lack of sleep and not proper diet, from all this moving so quickly.

He's never lived on his own, he's always lived with my mother and gone to school and worked. He's worked two jobs and gone to school for a number of years coming up to this as well. Here's to you Bro! On a job, very well done! His acheivements and dedication will not go unnoticed. This is an honoras no other. Good Work!

I'd like to share a couple of pics from his graduation day. First one me and him, then my son (Dustin, who's trying to look like a hardbutt in the pic:p)and him, then one of his counselor and him.

Please join me in congradulating him!;) As it's been a road, a hard one.:clapping::cop:

Thank you, Sophie!:D

We really are. When you think of the days dishes lay in his room, piling up. To him telling me tonight that everytime he has a dish, it goes directly in the dishwasher. Who are you and what have you done with D? (that's what we have called him for years, haha)

The training was quite extensive. I'm impressed. They had to do scenarios of having an Instructor bust out and open fire atthem whenthey least expected it to doing the Gas Mask :thud:. He said he and this one other guy got the brunt of that!:)

Thanks, again, Sophie! I am very, very proud.:)

Congratulations and best wishes to your brother! He has many accomplishments to be proud of. I am certain he will do much good in his chosen career. And what a great sister you are!

Thanks so much, Ann! It is so surreal, still:?. I just can't believe it. I watched some that reality show called "The Academy" here, and it was alot of the same stuff, but what he learned was much more extensive:shock:. What a "Trooper":p.

Thank you again, Ann! I appreciate it so much:hug:.

Congratulations to your brother! :great:

I know what it is like to have familywho are police officers. My cousin is a policeman, and another cousin is dating a guy who is in training. Ihave a friend who is a policeman and used to curl with him in the mens league.

Oh, really? How interesting you know many an officer:).

Thanks so much, Stan!

CONGRATS to him! and we'll be thinking and praying for your brother to stay safe with all the troubles this world has today.

I was going to become a police officer when I was 21. I rode with a friend who was a seasoned detective and he told me about the first night he had to go on a murder call...... I decided that night that I couldn't do it.A father murderedhis infant child by slinging him against a brick wall.

I don't know how my uncles have been firemen and dealt with the things they have, and how my friends have seen the things they have on the street without giving up.

It sounds totally hoaky and so commercialized in some ways, but I truly believe that these are the people who children should be looking up to and seeing as their heros.

Thanks, Bo B!

Yeah, that's what I find hard. I've asked him if he gets weird, sick feeling at that stuff, and he doesn't at all. But, of course, he saw stuff like that before he had his Associates:shock:. The stuff they had to watch, but hey, it makes sense, let's weed out the ones that might not be able to "hack it".

Thanks again, Bo, it means alot to me:). Thanks for sharing your experiences too;).

Oh, thought of something that's sorta funny now:cool:.

Haley, you'll appreciate this:D. Remember when I was all nervous about going to Springfield to get Winston and Vega? I did good, right? Well, during this particular trip, I first got off on the wrong exit going down, then, that night leaving, it was soooo foggy. I followed my brother and his cadet buddy to I-55 South-where they were heading back to the academy and I had to get on I-55 North.

Well, apparently, it was so foggy I didn't see the sign and kept going straight. Hubby calls and asks where I am. (I was sorta wondering as I hadn't seen Lincoln:?:huh...eek) I was almost to freakin Champaign on 72 E:shock:! I was freaking out:grumpy:. Then had to do it again the next morning, get home and head back to SPI in the morn for graduation, made it that time, no probs:D. I know, I know, should've been thought out much better, we should've stayed overnight. My poor brother had so much going on, it just really didn't register to "plan" it that way as we're just about an hour and 15 minutes away.:?

Congratulations to your brother! You have every right to be proud of him.

:great: He is in an honorable profession and has achieved a lot already. May he have a long, distinguished career and may God grant him the ability to remain in control during a crisis and the patience to deal with all theidiots he will encounter.

Oh wow...HUGE congratuations to him!! He looks like such a sweet guy, too. :)

And you're SO pretty, Crystal! :)

How wonderful...what a huge accomplishment...:clapping::weee:

Congrats!!!

But, he looks too sweet, I think I need to buy him some mirrored shades, so he can work on his menacing cop look.

From experience, the training police officers go through is a long hard challenging road, that can often lead to discouragement. Your brother is to be commended for sticking with it and graduating!

Now.. about his menacing cop look...lol.

Aw, thanks so much guys! We really are proud:).

Rosie, thanks hon:blushan:. Usually I don't think I take very good pics, that one, I actually like, I even have it on my desktop at home:D.

Zin, haha, give him time,I'm sure he'll get that menacing cop face down:p. He's one tough cookie, I'll tell ya. The first 3 weeks at the academy, all they could have to drink was water! Couldn't take anything for say, a headache, nothing. So, yeah, it wasvery challenging:D.

Great for him! Congrats! That is sooo awesome...I love hearing about those who accomplish their dreams. He will be GREAT!

Oh and when he is off duty...:toast:It's party time! (that nothing but water thing would have killed me!)

Don't know how I missed this thread! :USAflagwaving:I'm so happy for you, your brother and your family. You have a wonderful brother!

What a noble sacrifice to make. He really has accomplished so much. These are among the true hero's of our country. God bless him and keep him safe.
