I'm glad she's not in either. I couldn't stand a women that murders animals in her home state. Especially when Alaskans voted AGAINST it TWICE. If we had wolves in the the lower states, we wouldn't have such a deer population problem. but sickos like Palin drove them away, or killed them.

What troubles me the most is the fact that our government as of tonight is not a democracy anymore. It is a 1 party rule throughout. Congress majority is dems, president, vp, cabinet, senate. So there is no two wings to make the eagle anymore. The dems will be able to pass whatever they want to without any opposition.
I disagree with this viewpoint. Not only does this not affect the standing of our democracy (democracy= voting in our elected officials) but the Democratic majority is not as singular as many (right-wingers) feel. Especially with the newly elected Democrats from the south, there are a lot of moderate-to-conservative Dems and they're much less likely to toe the party line if they disagree on something. Also, the Republicans can still filibuster to their heart's content so the Dems will need at least some Republican support too in order to prevent a filibuster stalemate.

What is funny to me is that not nearly as many people complained when Republicans were in the same position.

I really do think Obama will reach out to others with different viewpoints, especially as many of his advisers have been Republican too. And if you watch Obama's speach from last nigh (it was fantastic by the way), he stresses that we as a country will need to work together to solve our problems. He also promised to try to be a good president for the people that didn't vote for him too since he knows they also matter.

I, personally, am thrilled that Obama won. As one of my coworkers put it, it's an amazing feeling to wake up in the morning with hope in your heart.

I also hope that the Republican party goes through some changes as the pundits have been talking about. As one Republican on CNN put it, they are now mainly a party of Southern whites, and they need to re-evaluate their stances and who they are reaching out to in order to become more nationally viable.

It's my opinion, as well as that of many others, that under the Bush administration this whole country has been pulled farther to the political right. "Liberal" has become a four letter word and actual moderates are now called liberals. Obama is very centrist even though he is called "the most liberal Senator." European countries are being called "socialist" for their slightly left-wing (not far left) policies. I would like to see theUS swing back so that the balance is more to the actual center of the political spectrum and voters get more choice than center-right and far right politicians.

Some of you may consider me unAmerican for this *cough*Palin*cough* but I am finally proud of my country again.

I think people were less bothered by the Republican sente majority when that happened because it was put in place out of response to some of the things Clinton had put through during the beginning of his term with a Dem majority senate.

I think saying the Republican party is now mainly a party of southern whites is an uniformed statement.

I will simply agree to disagree with you because I think some of your statements are just not true. :)

As far as being filibuster proof, the judgement is still out. We don't know 100% yet if they will be filibuster proof or not. There are 4 uncontested seats left.

I honestly hope Obama will reach across party lines, the only time he did this while in the senate was to help pass legislation that McCain wrote. I did not see any major work alongside the republicans in his voting history. So who knows, I hope you're right because it really needs to not be about parties, but about what is good for the citizens of America, all of them.

I am a moderate, so I don't consider moderates to be liberals, I consider them to be right down the middle on most things, they see the flaws and problems in both parties. I think the reason the term "liberal" leaves more of a bitter taste in people mouths in because they don't stick to their party values like they claim to, generally speaking. This is a tiny example, but I (who has a multi-cultural family) was told I was racist for not voting for Obama and I happen to live in the most liberal city in the US. That's not an open minded party free of bigotry if their calling people racist for simply expressing an opposing view. At the same time, some conservatives are being called right-wing extremeists, so it happens on both sides. Everyone is different and I completely aknowlege that many people genuinely want good change to come so they picked Obama. I completely respect that.

I am worried too. Its not because he is black( his is mixed) . it is some of his views. I had trouble with some of macains views too. It really was a hard choice for me. I wish Obama a lot of luck (he will need it). And I hope with all my heart that he can get things straitened out for the united states. I will not say anything bad for Bush. I think everyone makes mistakes in the white house. I am sure he did what he thought was right at the moment. Just about every president has done some stupid things if you look back... just my opinion and I hope it doesn't offened anyone

I think we'd be worried no matter who was running or in office at this point! or who won Tuesday!

We are in some really tough times and it's going to affect most of us on this board somehow - mainly in our pocketbooks!

I couldn't see putting McCain in office to continue the path that has been set by old republicans and the unfortunate cost of war.

I think that Obama is smart enough to know he has limitations and will seek the advice of those who have more knowledge. He picked Biden to help him - that's a huge plus.

I hated Bill Clinton, I was embarassed for our nation when he was caught in his little escapades, and I was happy to see him leave. Thinking back, and seeing what his time was like..... he did a lot of good for us.

Let's try to support the government and hope and pray that things go better.

I don't like all he represents, but I'm hoping that those things aren't as important in the big picture....

I celebrated Obama's victory by creating a bunny-oriented shirt to sell on CafePress. Heck, I have a handful of bunny ideas worked out so I might as well start designing them and get them out there.

Please check out Bunnies for Obama!
