Aww I wish I could bring my bunnies inside but my mother has other plans too!

I can just about tempt her to bring the guinea pigs inside if it snowsreally bad this year. But its going to be a really bad winterfor me if I have to as they will have to be in their indoor cage in mybedroom, and I am allergic to them quite badly. Or I could make room inour shed for them... do you think they will be ok in there? As the only air they will get from the shed is through the key hole! ??

lucky you getting your own bunny barn!

im only 15 but ive already planned, when im older and have a house andgarden, how im going to keep lots of bunnies happy and how the gardenwill look!! :colors:

my bf didnt have a choice! i told him i wouldnt move out unless he built one with our new house.
it might take a while to finish, i just hate worrying at night about my rabbits when its windy, it actually keeps me up.
and i was heartbroken a few weeks ago when a 1 week old kit died after wandering away from the nest it got so cold:(
i dont think there is anything wrong with keeping rabbits outside ivedone it for years, its just our winters can be hard on the little things

I've just come in from putting our bunny to bedand found this thread. Glad I'm not the only one worryingabout keeping their bunny warm. I've spent agestonight covering the hutch with an old quilt cover and an old curtain -fussing over the size of the gap, will she be warm enough, should I give her a pet blanket... etc? I looked at theScratch and Newton covers this afternoon but they wanted £50 forone! I just couldn't justify that sort of cost.

We use a clear builders plastic sheet over the hutch and runwhich keeps outthe wet and I put in lots of straw and hay andI lined the bed area with a cardboard box a few weeks ago.

I saw the rabbit bed at the petshop too, is it any different to a cat bed?

The jam jar idea is excellent - will definitely give that a go when the temp drops more.

It's probably not much different, maybe a bit different shape, or adifferent material, I don't really know:dunno:. I just like that theyactually make beds for rabbits:D, I think it shows they are starting tobe considered a more important pet, and people actually care aboutthem!:)

its not jsut me that have big plans for my bunnies when im older!!! :bunnydance:

i think that rabbits do get a bit put to one side in the pet industry.they jsut include them with hampsters, ferrets and other small mamals.even though haveing a pet rabbit is nearly as common as having a petcat!

hi

i have put my bun in the shed for the winter. i have put loads of straw and hay in his sleeping part of his house.

i have put a blankett over him too to try and help keep the warmth in.

i am not allowedto bring him into the house either as myother half would spend his life sneezing, but like you if i had my ownway he would be in all the time though winter. :)

heya i have a problem.. can u help.. hehe well ihave put my rabbit out side for the winter but..know it very cold andwe have put like stuff in the cage like stuff to keep them warm..andknow i mean is COLD and my three rabbit, ALL nite keep hittin the cagewith there feet and it goes on all nite and it keep the whole family upand it there a way to stop them doin that ...? sam xx thanks:dutch

normally when buns hit they back feet on thefloor it means they are angry or scared about something, i am no bunexpert but perhaps if you have a shed or garage perhaps try moving themin there, if nottry putting a blanket over thematnight if the weather is cold and maybe something pasticover that.

you may want to try talking to some others on the forum because i amsure they will know a bit more than me.:)
