Gosh I guess this isn't a great time for people with Thyroid problems.

Chris had his right Thyroid removed a week ago, he just called me as he just had a Doctors appointment. He found out that their were cancer cells in it.So now he has to have the other side removed as early as next Friday or as late as January 15, depending on the Doctor schedule. God does everything have to happen at once.

They said he will have to remain in the hospital for 3 days and then have some type of "Radiation Pill" and not be around people for 3 days.

So now I need to phone my bloody lawyer to try to get the money that I received from the lawsuits (we've only been waiting almost 2 months for it). As Chris isn't working at the moment because of the surgery and neither am I.

I also had a tooth removed on Saturday, that was a real joy too. It was a molar that had a root canal done years ago that broke in half so the Dentist had a Huck of time getting it out. Gosh I've never had so much freezing in my mouth at one time.

Sorry to rant but I feel so bad that I wasn't with Chris when he got the news as I had a really bad Asthma attack yesterday and really don't feel that great today so Undecideds to stay a t home to rest. Now he's going to his parents to see his sister on her 60th birthday.

Oh man! I am so sorry to hear Chris has thyroid cancer! and you have had such a run of bad luck! I'm thinking of you both and praying things get better

Susan - (((HUGS))).Where is he being treated? When my father had the radiation(radiactive iodine)and his thyroid removed, he was up at the Trillium Health Center in Mississauga.

From what I remember of my dad's, he had to drink something containing radioactive iodine. The thyroid collects iodine, so any thyroid cells that were left sucked up the radioactive iodine which essentially kills any cancer cells that may have been left post surgery.

The only thing we had to deal with after my dad had hissurgery and treatment was that he became grumpy and moody as they were trying to balance hismedications after. :)

If you need anything - any help getting to and from places etc, let me know, any help with the buns- I'm here. I'll send you my phone number in PM... not sure if you have it yet.

My love to you and Chris.

Nad

oh gosh i am so sorry, hugs to the both of you

I just read this..

'Im so sorry for you and Chris
Seems like everything is coming down at once...

it will get better when you get over the shock of all this and just settle into the treatment....

from what I'm hearing treatment is quite successful.
:hugsquish:
keep us all up-dated and I'm so sorry about your teeth and asthma problems on top of everything else.

I've been thinking about you all day! I feel so bad for what is going on. It's been a rough time lately, huh? I just hope we'll see the sunny side of things soon! "hugs"

Im so sorry to hear you've been going through so much, Susan. Please tell Chris he's in my thoughts and prayers. I wish I was closer and could help out- Nad is such a sweetheart!

Sending lots of love and well wishes

Haley

Susan, I'm so sorry to hear about Chris going through this. Neither of you wonderful people deserve this type of thing.

I also want to say that I know someone that had a Thyroid tumour removed. She quit smoking for awhile, but is back at it. (She's on a couple meds I believe to control the Thyroid.) But, this is scarey and I'm hoping and praying for the absolute best for you guys.

Chris is an awesome human being and deserves to live the longest lifewith his wife and bunnies!

I wish you and Chris the very best.:)

Keep us posted, please.

Crystal;)

Thanks everyone for your care and good wishes. Chris is doing ok, the scar is healing nicely, unfortunately they will be cutting on same spot. He is probably going to havethe surgerynext Friday or on December 15. Hopefully next Friday to get it over with.

Then he'll have to go back into the hospital at some point to have the "Radiation Pill".

Susan:)

:hug:So sorry Susan that you have to go through so much ..a lot of worry and stress for you and Chris!

Excuse me... but this year has really sucked for both rabbits and their owners. :grumpy:...

He went today for his PreOp appointment. He won't find out till Friday morning if he has the surgery that day. so we'll have to rush to the hospital.

They took out the right side of the Thyroid so now he has to have the left side taken out.

Some times it's the waiting that's the worst part.

Susan

PS

Thanks for all your good thoughts. Chris actually read through this blog and said how nice and kind everyone was on here.

Tell Chris he's in my thoughts and prayers. I wish I was closer and could help you all out. Im so sorry youre both going through so much :(

Chris' next surgery is on Monday. We're both glad that he is getting it over with. Then he has to have the "Radiation Pill" haven't heard when that will be.

Susan:)

I was wondering what happened today. At least it is happening quickly - not so much time to wait and worry.

I am sure all will go well - I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

try and have a good weekend :)
