He's doing good. He has his moments, like thenight before last, when he'll all of a sudden just want to huddle in acorner and not be touched. Most of the time, he's hyper and ready tojump into my arms.

He's due back to the exotics vet this coming Monday for a urinalysisand we'll know from there how much sand is still in his kidney's. Inthe last week, his food has been changed to a timothy based pellet withmuch lower calcium, enticing him to eat more timothy hay by rationinghis pellets (and it's working!) and he's on a large dosage of Baytril,a high dose of cranberry enzymetablets, and some sort ofsupplement.

We'll know if it's working on Monday, his appointment is at 2pm.

I did ask him and he also said he wanted to wait. I give up on asking, that's three vets already that claim we should wait.

I guess they have their reasons in this particular case. :dunno:

Yes, they do. Pushing fluids when the kidneysare damaged or inflamed, or the urether or kidney is blocked, canactually do more damage than good. Sub-Q or oral fluids are used aftertreatment, for long term maintenance. They are also used in cases ofChronic Renal Failure, but this may not be what your rabbit issuffering from.
There are a few good websites where you can find info onkidney stones and diseases, includinghttp://www.medirabbit.com/EN/Uro_gen_diseases/Urogenital_main.htm.
I'm sure your vet will indicate if and when Sub-Q is needed.
