Some flowers are safe to eat, even by humans...but if it were me I wouldn't take the chance. The only flowers I would stick to are clover blossoms or dandelion flowers. And I'd be very wary of flowers coming from a florist's shop, as so many times chemicals are used to grow and/or preserve them. Even if the florist assured me that chemicals weren't used, I'd play it on the safe side and just not take any chances.

I've seen some edible flowers at my local grocery store in the produce area near some herbs. Would those be safe??

Moving this to the main forum, so more people see it, and since it's on topic. :)

We have extensive gardens at our house... during the growing season the only flowers I feel safe giving the kids are Nasturtiums, Dandelions, Clover and in the spring a bit of Lilac, although Peppers is the only one who really likes it! (then again she will eat almost anything! ;))

It is fine for your rabbit to feed on these flowers: aster, carnation, daisy, geranium, geum, helenium, hollyhock, honesty, marguerite, marigold, Michaelmas daisy, nasturtium, rose, stock, sunflower and wallflower,
however avoid acacia, antirrhinum, anemone, brugmansia, columbine, daffodil, dahlia, delphinium (larkspur), feverfew, glorylily, gypsophila, hellebore, hyacinth, iris, lantana, lily of the valley, lobelia, love-in-a-mist, monkshood (aconite), narcissus, polygonatum, poppy, primrose, snowdrop, tulip and other bulbs.

Ours also like "sweetviolet" flowers and the flowers of herbs, especially basil and dill.

Ack, I always have problems getting the forum to accept the URL of this site! The *****
replace the part that looks like the swear word that starts with bit and ends with ch. :disgust:
