Lol, I've got an issue with my buns trying to compete over who owns which space.

I have three rabbits. Radio Gaga and Daisy have free roam together in my apartment, as I was recently able to (finally!) bond them. In May I got a baby bunny, and ended up keeping her in the bathroom (it's a large space) until she got a bit older. Now she's been moved into my bedroom.

But, since I've moved her, the other two rabbits are constantly going into the bathroom pooping and peeing to mark their territory. As well as in the hall right in front of the bathroom, and in front of my door. I've put a gate in front of my door so they can no longer soil there, but the gate is a pain to get over so much lol. I steam the carpet where they're still able to pee every weekend, but it's honestly hopeless. It's starting to get smelly, and as I'm renting I really can't allow the bunnies to be destroying the place like this. Plus, you know, it's gross lol.

Is there any way to get them to stop? The two bonded rabbits are both fixed, the baby bunny, isn't yet, as she's too young right now.

You should clean the bathroom with vinegar and water. It cleans the smell of the baby bunny so they would no longer feel the need to mark it

I was thinking about that. But what to do with the carpeted area? Maybe steam it with a vinegar solution?

I would leave the poos actually. This may keep your bun from feeling the need to continue marking. I like to use a 50/50 water vinegar solution on hard flooring as well as carpet. You can use vinegar undiluted but imo that smells very strong and 50/50 is more than enough.

I've considered leaving them, but I can't. They must have been leaving hundreds of poops in there every night, and I'm renting a place. Not only was it gross, but my landlord would not be impressed lol.

For now I've sectioned off my hallways so they can't continue making messes. I consulted my vet and she said they likely wont stop until they've bonded with the new bunny. I tried their first bonding session in the bath tub and it was all out war (the new bun starting it all), I've never had rabbits fight in the bath tub! It's going to be a long road ahead . . .
