Bunny scared of brush

My bunny is terrified of her brush! I couldn’t brush her since I got her three weeks ago. It’s fine if I touch her or untangle her fur with my hand but as soon as she sees the brush she look like she’s having a stroke, she starts shaking and running as fast as she can. I gave her the brush so she can smell it and bite it to know that it won’t do anything to her, as soon as she smells it she gets scared and runs away. What should I do?I can’t not brush her!

The shaking is not good, (seems like shes terrified of the brush or some medical problem)
Maybe your accidentally scratching her with the brush, feel the brush against your skin is it rough.

You can either use your hands, lint roller, or a gentler brush.


What breed is she?

Is she Angora, is she getting to hot?

Yes she is scared of the brush, it is not rough, i use my hand yes, she doesn’t like the roller too but if she’s sleeping it’s fine. She is a lionhead (whats the different between lionhead and angora? )

She is not hot and the running isn’t like how she plays, it’s more like she is running away from the brush

i have a rabbit that won't let the brush near her. She hates it and growls at me when I try to brush her. However, she loves the glove or the mitten. I bought both as she needs to be brushed so badly when she molts (she is a Rex). I would try the glove. I found if I do the glove when she is eating she doesn't even realize I'm doing anything. All my other rabbits don't mind the brush, so it's not the brush. For some reason she just doesn't like it. I've tried everything to brush her; but, with the glove it is so easy. I doubt a comb will work on yours either, it didn't for me. Anything I hold in my hand resembles the brush and she won't stand for it.

I have a hair buster and it’s great. I have one bunny who sees being combed as an absolute treat and totally loves it.

My other bun on the other hand would happily never be combed and hops away as soon as she can. Her favourite place to be stroked is on top of her head, so I have to stroke her head as I’m running the comb through elsewhere. Then she has mixed emotions about whether to run, or hang around to be petted. Running usually wins eventually, but buys me a bit of time.

When she was shedding though, I actually took her up onto a countertop and brushed her there so she couldn’t go anywhere. She didn’t like it, but it had to be done and she soon got over it.

What brush do you have? It may be sharp and pokey so she associates it with pain and being poked.
Brushing Tips:
Instead of brushing, wet your hand very lightly and pet away. The fur will stick to your hand.
Brushing while they are eating is great for distracting them.
Give her a treat whenever you bring the brush out, so she starts to associate the brush with treats.
