Hello!:(
In a week I’m going to pick up two baby rabbits I know about keeping them warm in the winter and cold in the summer, keeping away from predators and illness but I’m worried so so so worried...
They are gonna be 6weeeks old and the person I’m buying them from are keeping them inside at their house ...when I purchase them I’m putting them outside because I’m not allowed to bring them inside....
does anyone know if they will adjust to the change of environment? I mean it’s alittle bit after winter and it’s average for it to be in the 70’s fahrenheit this season, but I’m worried since they don’t have experience outside that they will suffer and maybe it will be fatal :(

I wouldn't stress to much about this, I'm in Florida and all my buns are outside (except expecting does and nursing moms) 24/7. It doesn't get too cold down here, and my buns love the cooler weather! It does get up to 90 Fahrenheit in the summer, and although they are hot, they tolerate it well. Keep in mind, they are under the shade and I have fans installed keeping them cool, and often bring out frozen bottles or fruits and veggies for them to munch on. My bucks usually do go sterile in the summer, but they have tolerated the heat well.

I think your rabbits will be okay, as long as you keep them in the shade and try the water bottle thing for them to lay on when it gets hotter. You are right, it could be fatal for them. I one time lost almost a whole litter because I had left for three hours, a towel had slipped of one of my porch cages, and the sun shone just right so it was directly in the cage. :( I was devastated, but never made that mistake again.

As long as they have shade, and their cage is well ventilated so the air flow can move through, I think they should be just fine. Do keep an eye on them and check frequently the first few weeks of heat to see how they're doing. And take extra precautions during very hot days.

Thank you so much, I’ll save this reply just for summer :) I’m going to run electricity to the hutch and run fans for ventilation also I want to try natural stone tile i hope it gives them a cool place to lay in the summer and for the end of winter here... I’m going to stack up on straw :)

For starters they are too young to be going to a new home.
It is actually illegal in a lot of states to rehome rabbits before 8 weeks of age.
Can this breeder not do the right thing and hold on to them until they are older?
These rabbits will stand a much better chance of acclimating to the outside weather if they aren't so young and delicate.

I don’t think they will hold them what do I do !

Try to at least wait until they are 7 weeks, can’t you pay a little for them to reserve your bunnies for you. Because they need to be properly weened from their mother and eat soiled food. Taking rabbits too early from their mother might cause problems.

In my country we often pay a sum of the money of the rabbit and pay the rest when we pick them up. So they know we will get them and they are specially reserved for you. So all the rabbits are 8 weeks old when being sold and breeders don’t have to stress over not getting their rabbits sold.

After a month you don’t get the rabbits they will sell them to another person.

Thank you ...I’ll try to talk to them if not then what?

You can always ask and see, maybe say an another date when you have time to pick them up and they might agree. At 8 weeks, rabbits kit can still be with their mother without a problem.

It highly unreasonable of the breeder to sell them around 6 weeks and I would never trust them. But if it because of inexperience, they should be able to hold of a week at least.

I will ask ...I’m not purchasing them from proffesional breeders ...don’t get mad ...they are from Craigslist
