Bunny’s water bowl

Dear all, i just found some yellow stains in my bunny’s porcelain water bowl. I rubbed them away and rinsed it with hot water and normal temp water for a while. It looks completely normal now. My bunny’s been using it for around a year Is it normal? How do u guys wash it? Also, what water bowls do u guys use? Thanks a lot!

I have this happen all the time! I hate it and clean the water dishes daily to make sure they stay clean.

I usually let it soak in white vinegar first for a few mins then wash it off with soap and water.

I noticed they will only pee in their water bowl if it is near their litterbox or hay rack. So I moved it away from their litterbox and now no more pee in waterbowls =)

Don't freak out too much. I don't say this as a particularly knowledgeable rabbit owner (I've had mine for 2 1/2 months), but as someone who wishes to point out that, in the wild where they're actually from, they don't drink from pristine water sources that we humans give them in captivity.

I like to use white vinegar and brush it out with a new toothbrush - it does take a little bit of elbow grease and some time, but it’s worth it. Just rinse it well after. And make sure that you’re cleaning - just empty the water, give it a rinse and refill - the bowls often (preferably every day).

Agreed, however, mine are spoiled to the point that they will sit next to their living-room water bowl and look at me until I bring new water. Even if I just re-filled it an hour ago.

Omg...I just bought one of these and she still found a way to pull at it and get it off the connector...I just dont know what to do anymore...she just started this bowl tipping behavior..little stinker

My bunny tipped over bowls too. Then I walked into a Petsmart and found a bowl with rounded edges. It looks kind of like this but more round. He tried to knock it over but couldn’t and gave up.

If you walk into a petsmart, you’ll probably find others like it. They aren’t expensive either.

I use bowls that I found on sale at Target. They are just regular ceramic cereal bowls but they are too heavy for Oreo to tip over. She likes to put her paws on her bowl as she drinks and the bowl never moves even with her weight on it.

Oreo is a cutie Thank you! I did find one ..its very heavy..No more tipping bowls for her

I use this one and it's been fantastic. With bottles my bunny didn't seem to drink much, and after I switched to bowls I was always worried that she would run out of water. With the 64 oz bottle, I refill it every 2-3 days. Highly recommend.

Then it wasn't placed properly on the connector. There is no way a rabbit will get it off if it twisted properly onto the support. It has to twist and lock in place. Guaranteed a rabbit can't get it off.
