Hi all, I'm new to this forum. :)

This morning, one of my rabbits died :( Her mate is obviously grieving, he's not his usual energetic self, although he is still eating normally. He currently lives in what used to be an enclosedchildren's cubby house in my garden, and the pair were very happy there. However I'm worried that with his mate's death, the remaining rabbit,Rupert, will be lonely, as being in my final year of school, I can't be with him 24/7.

Should I bring him inside so he gets the maximum amount of attention from the family possible, or will moving him traumitise him after the death of his mate? And should I look into getting him another mate?
Thanks, any help is much appreciated. :)

Aww that's so sad to hear :( I think you should bring him into your house and keep him company at least. I don't think it will traumatize him unless he's familiar with the house and members...my rabbit prefers laying down in the kitchen, where he could be with everyone in the household rather than in another room in his pen laying down alone.
I think that you should be looking for another companion for him soon.

Thanks for your reply, he was initially in the house when I first got him, just while we were finished misquito- proofing his hutch, but I'm sure he would've forgotten the house now. I'm just worried that being alone and being moved to an unfamilar place will scare him and be bad for him...

I agree with houhoubun, I think you should bring him in.

I myself have all my rabbits indoors and just love the interaction I have with them.

Susan:)
