Bringing a bunny outdoors inside a front backpack?

Has anybody ever tried placing their bunny in a front backpack (bunny is wearing a harness - for added security) and walk around the neighborhood? What was it like?

That would probably be quite terrifying for a rabbit. If you'd like to take your rabbit out (and assuming your individual rabbit is bold enough to handle being brought out to a new environment... the bulk of rabbits are stressed by new and unfamiliar environments) then a better solution would be to use an enclosed pet stroller.

Please leave your bunny inside in a bunny proof room or a large enclosure with lots of enrichment. They certainly do not need to be taken out of their familiar environment other than for vet trips. In fact they can get so stressed it can make them very ill. There is no need to take them outside, they're not dogs.

It depends on your bunny. My two rabbits have been exposed to traveling in a car for 13 hrs a time and strolling through the neighborhood in a stroller since they were kits (12 weeks old). I can even take them to pet stores in their stroller. However, if I tried anything new like this backpack, I know one of them wouldn't like it and the other would constantly try to get out. If your bunny hasn’t been exposed to anything like this before, I wouldn’t do it.

I agree with @beachpaws that it depends on your bunny. I bought a backpack carrier for my bunny when I first adopted her, but quickly realized that she wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much as I would lol.

But that's her. She's a bit skittish.

There are bunnies that really enjoy leash walking, etc. You would just have to take it slow and see if yours is one of them.

I personally don't see the point of getting a pet backpack carrier for just walking around unless you're also planning on perhaps letting your bunny out. But as others have mentioned it depends on what you're bunny is like.
In my case my bunny only tolerates being in confined spaces such as carriers and pet pens etc. I use a backpack/shoulder bag carrier that can be securely put on top of suitcases since I have to travel quite frequently with my bunny. So far the longest trip he has had was a 12h train plus buss and a drive without any issues.
One tip if you decide to get a backpack carrier is to also get a travel cat litter box to put inside it since they're usually not fully waterproof and it also makes it easier to keep it clean.
