He/She has markings like a English Spot. Does he have curled whiskers?
those are not quite english spot markings, he has nocheekspot, no nose butterfly for a major one, the spots are in thewrong place, scattered about instead of a nice chain. butexcepting the no nose marking he's a nice broken.

Not that I don't love all the bunnies! I just like seeing all of Bo's cousins! :)
I have a mini rex too! She is the queen around here. Here's Miss Basil:
Your mini rex isa black/orange tri-colored. where did you get her? markings-wise, she looks showable.

I have a few mini rex, opals and a castor.

I got her from a breeder. She said she is show quality, but Idon't know if I'm going to show her. I don't really know muchabout showing, I think I'm going to attend a show in my area in acouple of weeks and make a decision then. I also thoughtabout breeding her, but I don't know what color buck she should bepaired with. I honestly haven't made any decisions.

i don't know what her genetic background is butto a tri a black, blue, chocolate, or even lilac would be fine, or abroken of those colors, or another tri. a Harlequin would beok just stay away from agouti such as opal, castor, lynx, and tanpatterns like otter(which is currently unrecognized in Minirexes.) REW might be fine but it depends on what the rewcarries. staw away from BEW. tort might be ok.

I have honestly never seen a broken with a perfect stripe down the back. Only breed I have ever seen it in is the english spot.

Now I'm wondering if my little mutt has some English Spot inher. She has the stripe and the butterfly nose, but she haslop ears.

This a fat picture from a few months ago. She's since slimmed down!

all brokens need to have to be shown:

nose marking

ear color

eye markings

and between 10% and 50% of them colored.

the pattern should be even, and can be blanket or spotted.

however the broken gene was originally introduced into many breeds bythe english spot. one of those breeds was the holland lop which yourrabbit is. that also led to the creation of the americanfuzzy lop.

oh,

your bunny has two spots on the nose, not quite what we would call abutterfly, though it is acceptable. a butter fly is a solidcolored nose, (except for maybe a tiny white snip on thenostril) with a "nose fork" and wings over the whisker bed.:)

on second thought, she does have the mini lop head... hmmm. you sure your scale is accurate?

It's really hard to tell from the photos -- butit looks like B's bunn may be a lop mix (with erectears). As Lizabeth mentioned, themarkings aren't that of a purebred English Spot. Even poorlymarked spots show certain marking features that have been selectivelybred for many years. The rabbit also doesn't have theearsor furof the English Spotor the earsof theMini Rex. (From the photo, it doesn't appearto be rex fur.)

Whatever mix the rabbit may be, it certainly is beautiful!

You seem very knowledgeable..... breeder from what I can see.... areyou also a judge? When you said "not quite what we would call abutterfly"....

Just curious.

Do you mind me asking where abouts are you from?

I love those mini-rex :)

thanks. nope, not a judge (YET!) I'm in michigan. by "we" i guess i meant show-people!
