Hello every one I would really appreciate anyone's knowledge and advice for my rabbit Butterscotch.

Out of nowherw he's stomach is bloated and he is very heavy. Which obviously I'm worried about it being bloat. But he isn't displaying any symptoms of bloat. He has been eating and drinking all day. Also flopping and playing with my other rabbit. However he isn't letting us touch his stomach but still wants cuddles. Does anyone know what this could be? Is it bloat?

We want to take him the vet but we live in a small town and the vet we have here is not rabbit savvy at all.

Please help. Thank you!

Does he seem gassy at all? If you have simethicone (baby gas relief drops) on hand I'd recommend giving some of that and monitoring him. I'd suggest trying to find a vet now just in case.

Thank you so much for your reply! He does a little gassy but is otherwise acting fine. Only symptom is that he doesn't seem to be as active as usual. We tried massaging his belly for a little while and he pooped straight after we did that? Is it possible he could be a little constipated? Since then his belly has gotten less hard.
And I will defiantly get the gas drops. They sound like they will be good to have on hand. We called the vet in town but they aren't on emergancy call tonight :(( He is grooming and playing with our other bunny still so hopefully he will be okay till morning...

Thanks heaps.

Hope the info links will help! I know how scary this is as our guys/gals have had GI stasis episodes and one boy with severe stomach bloat in the last 16 years.

Simethicone and meloxicam along with gut motility meds Rx'd by your DVM are beneficial.
